Listed as having been kept in a Wayte Raymond album. I have no 1st hand experience with coins toned in those albums, but pictures loom similar-ish to this coin. I do not have it in hand yet. If it's a stinker, then it is probably back to only slabbed coins from ebay for me. Also, I didn't exactly break the bank on it. I paid around $23 shipped.

If you slab it I recommend ANACS. Has nice eye appeal. John1

The reverse to my eye reveals strong evidence of a prior cleaning. I agree with likely AU-Details Cleaned. Concur the toning is attractive - I can't tell if it is natural. Submission costs to any TPG would be more than the value of this coin.

I agree with AU details - cleaned. It appears to have secondary album toning. I imagine this would be a stunner without that unfortunate cleaning.

I'm not even sure it would make AU. I'm leaning towards XF.

Agree, the wear is evident. Not worth submitting.

I agree with others...the coin appears to have been improperly cleaned at some point and the toning is not original.
I would not recommend spending the money to have the coin graded.

XF details, harshly cleaned and retoned. Not worth submitting, hope you didn't pay much for it.

I picked up one of these 1893 Columbian Expedition awhile back at the LCS in a bin of junk WLHs It had nice tone colors to it, so I added it to the rest of the stack of WLHs I bought for $5.51 each. Got home and looked at it closer and did my best to give it a grade of XF. I put it in a sleeve, agree with others here, probably not worth getting it TPGed.

Well, no real surprise I guess but coin arrived today and the feedback here was spot on. Cleaned for sure. Would have liked it for $5-7 maybe, but not so much for the $23 I paid.

We all pay extra on ebay compared to buying in person, just how it goes on ebay. I felt I was lucky to get mine at the price I paid. LCS could have easily charged me twice what I paid and I would have gladly paid it because it looked in decent shape for how old it was. Honestly, I had no idea what the mintage was, plus it had a very nice tone to it and I've always liked old coins with nice natural toning.

I'd half to go against the consensus on being cleaned. I will agree on the EF borderine AU. For some odd reason these seem to turn up similarly toned from album storage. I would have bought it for that.
