Sadly most places won't give you much for foreign currency. I did checks online and vast majority aren't worth much. I keep the best as my collection and anything with silver was put into a 2 by 2.

Thank you all very much for the kind welcome and helpful advice. It is much appreciated! As I'm new, I am wondering is there a way to reply to a post individually on the forum? I see how to reply to the thread (as I'm doing here) but not how to respond to an individual poster except via email. If there's a way, please let me know where that button is! I will post my coins on the appropriate threads for feedback, but for those who asked, here's a list of the gold coins I'm looking to get values on: 1 - 1875-CC $20 Liberty Double Eagle, PCGS AU50; 8974.50/12133467 1 - 1920 $20 Saint-Gaudens, PCGS MS64; Series: 71 Coin: 27 9170.64/21878665 1 - 1905 $2.50 Liberty PCGS MS64; 7857.64/05919831 1 - 1907 D $5 Liberty NGC MS63; 3049202-004 1 - 1906 $2.50 Liberty NGC MS64; 450593-004 1 - 1900 $5 Liberty NGC MS63; 1583527-003 14 - Swiss Gold 20 Francs Helvetia AU (random year) I got a price quote from APMEX yesterday and wasn't overly impressed after seeing significantly higher prices on ebay. Does anyone have experience with JM Bullion and Heritage Auctions? If so, how are they? And is there anything I should know before dealing with them? And does anyone know what the PCGS Gold Shield is? I see a coin on ebay that seems to have sold for higher than its currently listed value (I have the same coin) and that's the only thing that stands out as different to me. Does "Gold Shield" mean it's better than the usual PCGS grading or something? Again, thank you to all who have given me such a warm welcome! Much goodness and many blessings back at you! |

OP.... If you go back and review the rules when you joined the Forum, you will see that new members are restricted from doing certain things (like emailing other members, buy/sell/trade, etc) till they have been members for a certain length of time and have obtained a certain number of QUALITY posts. Those rules are in place for a reason. Those rules work well. ... to the Community! |

Yes, thank you, I skimmed through the rules and so was aware of all that before I posted anything.
I'm not looking to email a member. I'm looking to reply to posts that have been made in my own thread and to quote their post. I see no way to do that. Usually in forums there's a reply button that quotes the post and lets you respond. Here, I seem to only be able to add a new post to the thread, but not reply to a post. If there's no way to do it, I'll simply copy the post content and quote it manually in posts I make.
Also, I'm not looking to buy/sell/trade here. I'm merely looking for guidance on where/how to get fair valuations of what I have. I've already learned so much from everyone here! It's an amazing resource! It's sometimes hard to find a good forum these days where people are both knowledgeable and helpful, and this is definitely one of the rare ones!
I appreciate your response!

They have some kind of special slab for the coin and they take really good pics of the coin before sending it back to you. It costs extra so it's really only used for high value coins. Without seeing both coins in hand, its possible that the other one sold for more because it had original surfaces, nice toning, etc. Quote:Does anyone have experience with JM Bullion and Heritage Auctions? Most of your gold trades as bullion. Even the $20 saints trade for a small % over spot. I would ask them about your 1875-CC $20. That coin is worth more than its gold content and you will get more for it by selling to a collector, not a bullion distributor. This is the kind of stuff that Heritage sells. Just be aware of their fee structure. Another cool thing about Heritage is that you can create a free account with them and get access to their auction archives. You can use that to get a general idea of what your coin is worth. I haven't done business with any of the companies you mentioned, but they are all large firms that are respected in the industry. Highlight and copy the text you want to reply to. Then switch from "Quick Reply" to "Full Reply". Once you are on "Full Reply" you will see a "Format:" line that it has 14 small square boxes. The 2nd box from the right end on that row of boxes has an image of a sheet of paper with a red arrow pointing to the right. That box is the link to add quote tags to your post. Click on that box. Once you see the quote tags in your reply you then paste the text you previously copied between the quote tags. You then enter your reply below that paragraph. (Don't worry....It took me, and a lot of others, a while to figure out, too!) Edited by westernsky
