Probably a 4-5 figure coin to the right buyer. Worth grading.

Simply amazing that didn't pop off going trough the upturn mill while putting the proto-rim on it.

So this one was actually in the roll but protected somehow?

Well the upset process probably loosened it. Came off later. Probably noticed by the first finder of this coin.

Thanks for the kind words!

Definitely noticed by whoever first found it so almost had to have come off fairly late in the game. How I found it was going through a roll of coins with oddities such as counterstamps or "clogged" letters. Nothing much, really. Then I found the main coin and that was a nice one. About three coins later the separated piece was found between two coins. So they weren't actually together and whoever originally found it had the forethought to keep the parts together, although not for whatever reason a couple coins apart.

Hadn't thought about grading it, and wonder how they would slab a thin sliver of coin. But it is a neat piece and could think about a slab to preserve and protect it (them).

Very nice and lucky that the piece is here. Coop says they go for $1g or more. That seems a little high to me.

That is so cool they kept the two pieces together.

Seems like I've seen two coins in the one slab before. That would be a great way to display them side by side. NGC maybe?
