Quote: UPDATED MARCH 18, 2020 Dear Valued Customer,
Orange County has clarified its emergency order and is now allowing businesses, including Collectors Universe, to resume operations.
As a result, Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) and Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) will resume operations, effective immediately.
As evident by the multiple policy changes, this situation remains extremely fluid. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this ordeal. Ultimately, we are committed to both the health and safety of our employees and the delivery of our services to our loyal customers.
Sincerely,
Brett Charville President, PCGS

That's one heck of a clarification. Originally prohibiting "all public and private gatherings of any number of people, including at places of work, occurring outside a single household or living space." Now, "some business leaders thought the prohibition on gatherings and events meant 'you and your business office and you and a coworker, unless you're an essential service. A lot of people not in essential services worried if they went to work today would they be arrested, and that is not the intent.'" I don't blame them for being confused. Quote: MARCH 20, 2020 UPDATE
Pursuant to Executive Order N-33-20, issued on March 19, 2020 by the Governor of California, Collectors Universe's Orange County office has closed until it is deemed safe to resume operations.
As a result, Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) and Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) have temporarily ceased operations, effective immediately.
It is evident to all that we are in uncharted territory. For now, the larger public good mandates this closure. We will share our reopen date once it is established by the state of California.
Thank you for your patience and understanding, and please stay healthy.
Sincerely,
Brett Charville President, PCGS

Dizzy? No. Stir crazy? Yes. I've left the house only to walk the dogs for the last three weeks, and that's just about a block each way. The rest of the state is just now catching up.

Yeah. I had sent them 8 coins last week. Not that I'm in a hurry. These were my 8 "Collectors Club" gradings they give when you re-up your annual membership. My membership is up for renewal in 3 weeks which means if you are doing the math, I waited nearly an entire year to send these in. I can wait a few more weeks/months for my coins!

I 'd just like to pick your brains on this one.
What if someone has a yearly PCGS eight coin grading membership that automatically renews on 03/23/2020? What is your opinion insofar as the membership auto-renewing for another year on this date?
Would it seem logical that since their office is closed with noone there to conduct business as usual, that the entire electronic part of the business would also grind to a halt? This would obviously include the part of the software that bills a member's credit card so efficiently right on time etc.

At this point, my brain hurts. For me, my renewal is the first week of April and I did get an email on March 16th that they got my order for what I had sent in. I suppose I'm soon to find out how they are going to handle their orders during this shutdown.

Does anyone on here live in Orange County California, or nearby? What is the update out there. Do the local experts in that region appear to be ready for people to go back to work soon? I'm one who is looking forward to PCGS getting back to business.

Email from PCGS says they are reopening the California office: "During our temporary closure, we developed and implemented an ongoing safety plan that ensures the well-being of both employees and customers alike. It was only then, along with the commitment of our team, that we chose to reopen our doors."

And they are grading! I got my email notification today that my grades are in. I was trying for MS68 all the way. It's a tough grade to reach but I hit a few.
