I guess they assume alcohol kills viruses. (If alcohol sanitizer kills them on the outside, let's just be safe and treat the inside as well.)

I think coin shops are pretty essential.

The majority of our workforce is working from home. Many of them have to remote into their work PC since they do not have a properly configured company issued laptop. I am at the office in case they accidentally shut down their work PC. I have had to power on a machine four times already; one of them twice.

This is going to be a long week month year.

Jbuck, thank goodness you are there to help out your fellow employees. I'm sure they are grateful. Take care to avoid the virus.

Thanks!

Truth be known, they are very appreciative of me and I am actually more patient than I let on. They are having to work using unfamiliar methods. Mistakes will happen. I just hope they can adapt before it drives anyone mad!

The upshot is that because of where my office is I am more isolated than I would be at home!

Stay safe jBuck!! I've been a mostly work from home employee for 12 years so it's no big deal for me but lots of our office needs the interaction of fellow coworkers it's been tough for them.

The only coin shops near me are in Kalispell and Whitefish... About 2 and a half or so hours away so no word there. There's a huge store in Idaho Falls, but that's even farther and I would assume they're closed. Such is rural town life.

Can't you tweak remote access permissions to prevent this?

We could if we paid for better software. That is a whole different battle.

Well we were ordered closed yesterday and I haven't been in for 2 weeks. Though some how Julian opened today claiming himself an essential business. No idea how. Unless he's claiming necessary financial institution status.

Seems like a risky move. They have been arresting owner/operators and levying fines against business that defy orders in my area of the country.

I told him that, but, his possible loss. I dunno about arrests, but definitly heavy fines near me. I'm in MD and dunno where you are Joe but I'm not even sure why he bothered opening. He can't ship, nobody's coming in, and he's sure as heck not gonna clean or organize so I have no clue what he's doing.

In Ontario, Canada, only essential services are open. Mind you, it is a fairly long list, but coin shops are NOT on the list. However, they can still do mail order, but that has its limits as no new stock is coming in. To be honest, there would have been few people coming anyway. I would not be going even it was open. Like almost everyone, I am reducing the number of my shopping trips, visiting fewer stores and getting more at a time, although the total purchases remain the same-I am eating the same amount.

All coin shops should be able to continue with their on-line businesses.
Very unfair if they are not able to do this.

Talked with the LCS by phone yesterday. They are open, but have been picked clean of bullion, and are not getting much business in numismatics. Apparently they are keeping busy with gun transfers (located near the state line; they also sell guns and ammo).

It is not a question of legality, but if they have anything left to sell. If the shop has limited or high-turn inventory (relying on people bring stuff in to sell), they may have nothing left to ship.
