Thanks, I searched 8 reales edge, counterfeit 8 reales, etc with no luck but I'll eventually hit the right words to read all the old threads from you guys.

I realize how much time it takes to answer what seem to be simple questions like: "How do I buy gold?" I just thought my question about diagonal slash marks or the line inside the edge characters (like a cast coin) would take little time. 've never seen the "line" on the edge discussed anywhere before.

I'll continue to read your discussions and start some new discussions of my own.

Yes I agree, I find this to be odd as well. The pack is in perfect condition. There are no signs at all that it has been tampered with, that I could see.

nfine is correct, this is a commercially built set. It's pretty cool though!

Here's one I had, there were some real nice coins in it.

Very nice looking Coins BadThad. My set came in the same off-white colored envelope.

I'm not sure I've seen this set before. It is very similar to the Numismatic News sets but there are enough differences to distinguish them. All of my sets that say Numis News are dated 1982 and are the same high quality as this set.

Interestingly I have a 1983 set that matches your to a "T". I had always assumed it was numis news but this new set makes that unlikely. The '83 set is also very high quality.

Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

As mentioned, there were no official mint sets in 82 and 83. Thats why ANY of the coins from 82 and 83 in MS conditions carry a good premium. For instance, an 82 or 3 quarter in MS66 is likely to set you back 50-100 bucks.

So, look at the coins you have. That 82D penny is chewed up, but it IS Unc. Thats because whomever did the packaging had to pull coins from fresh rolls and pack them. I would be willing to be this particular set was offered with the extra penny as a sales gimmick. Since ANY packaged set is NOT from the mint, but rather private enterprises, anything is possible.

The coins are in good shape, I'm happy with condition. The 1982 D Cent did look chewed up in the photo I provided showing the pack. It's the common bubble/blistering issue on both Obverse and Reverse.

If you look at PCGS graded examples, those bubbles don't really hurt the grade.

I wonder why those were not advertised more. Would have sold fairly well.

I just found a 1982 set like the first pictured.

It's very choice as well but has red lettering on the envelope.

The tokens are very lightly printed.

And of course no '70 cent.
