My nice ones are stored in a safe, while my duplicates and low value coins are stored on a bookshelf.

I have it in reach, as I don't have gold I feel its secure in the house, with about 100 stamp albums, mostly binders and pages.

I have seen huge growth in the past year so storage has not kept up with coin accumulation sadly - it is a process that is consistent!

My best coins sit in 3 albums.A GRADE STORAGE

1. New Zealand - everything but Halfcrowns, includes Predecimal, medals and some proof early decimal coins

2. World better coins - All the silver, American dimes etc, Ottoman silver, European coins - better farthings, roubles and most of my good stuff you see on the Way back thread

3. Halfcrowns - I branched this off recently, this album has all my Halfcrowns including UK, New Zealand, South Africa, Boer, Ireland and Rhodesian when I finally get some.

Where/How-Do-You-Store-Your-Collection? - Sample of A album pages

These are albums with 3 hole clips and the pages are BCW mylars 4 x 5 and each coin is in a mylar flip with a card - these coins are all itemised on my computer too and part of the photos for the way back thread is getting good photos of all the good pieces.

B GRADE STORAGE
Below that there is a 4th album - a cheaper PVC style plastic page (But not PVC though, a cheaper slide in page - for my Cupronickel and copper of UK, Fiji, USA, New Zealand circulation gems and Australian common date sets. Also some large cupronickel crowns.

Where/How-Do-You-Store-Your-Collection? - 4th album sample page This photo is old and these silver coins are now in the A album, they were there for a few weeks until I bought the A album supplies - sadly we have no reliable coin shops where I am and 90% of my buy ins are postal.

C GRADE STORAGE

Then we have the bagged stuff, one box of plastic bags each for New Zealand (Duplicates and obselete decimal coins - all base metal except a bag of scrap silver - mostly coins in VG - G condition that are only worth melt and I have better examples of already).
British box - All cupronickel and bronze again with modern duplicate coins.
World - this is in an old metal box I paid $8 for in an auction which is lockable, about 70 bags each containing coins of a country. Better pieces have own bags and will be eventually albumised. There is no silver or rare coins in these lots.

Where/How-Do-You-Store-Your-Collection? - The metal coin box for world fun coins -a lot of my go fish coins are in here.

2 Boxes which contain proof and souvenir sets, unopened, large crown sized coins in plastic cases etc and tins of corroded coins, I may clean.

Where/How-Do-You-Store-Your-Collection? - A beautiful home for the Proof sets etc.

And my grades are not elitism they stand for

A = Awesome coins
B = Beautiful coins
C = Coineriffic coins!

We will, now. (And that's why some of us are not answering this question.)

Ziploc bags all over the place, some in larger plastic bags and/or shoe boxes.
A few coins were bought in 2x2 holders; I rarely remove those, but don't usually put them in another plastic bag either.

Most of them are in the computer room, which is less of a deliberate choice and more just because I keep bringing them there for Numista entry and then forget to put them anywhere else. There's probably literal hundreds of coin baggies on my desk as I type this.

I'm a coin roll hunter new to the hobby. And I've been trying to figure out how to store the coins safely while I slowly figure out what I have. I don't collect for fast cash but I'd like to build a small collection for my son when he gets older.

I use 2x2's for my favorite and best condition coins. I use plastic tubes to keep the groups easier to ID later. For example I have a few Cent tubes for 1969-1974-S, 1982, 2009, Wheat Cents.

Then when those tubes fill up I transfer them to a paper roll. I then store those paper rolls in old coin boxes.

The problem I am running into is not know what to keep and what to toss back. I like the mint condition coins the best, then I like looking for errors, but what do you do with all the in-betweeners? Like a 1991 in like 59-60 condition? It is good but is it good enough to keep?

I have now moved 90% of my coins onto the Mylar pages after a huge album upgrade.

Safe deposit box?

At home and in plain sight?

At home and hidden? [if so, safe?]

In a garbage bag under the basement stairs?

To the OP, please understand a lot of people are giving sarcastic answers for personal security purposes.

That being said, mine are stored in boxes somewhere. I'd love to do the Dansco thing for some of them, but Dansco is doing whatever Dansco is doing. With several little person hands in the house, mine are unfortunately outta sight, outta mind most of the time.
