I see why you would say cleaned daveserrors. Photos dont capture all the luster. It would have to have been cleaned buffed and waxed to get as shiny as these old pics show

Acid would not likely affect the coin in such a random way. Looks like die pitting from rust and grease issues.

I was leaning towards the same thing as Coinfrog.

Struck Through Grease and possible pitting.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

I'm confused. Theres a designation for coins that are proof like but not proofs?

Thanks coinfrog and thelionwarrior. A proof is what it is and coins that shouldn't show qualities of a proof are proof like. I thought this may be one but shows you what I know. Plenty of confusion to go around
