I'd like to see some specifics as well.

The concerns for me is the undefined denticles to the right of date and under dollar and the wear pattern is inconsistent. I agree the coin could be fake, but does warrant a trip to a TPG.

Could someone be specific on why they think it's fake?

Fair questions. Note the details at Liberty's left hand.

First, a known genuine 1875-CC (NGC's photo):

1875-CC-Trade-Dollar

And the target coin at Liberty's left hand:

1875-CC-Trade-Dollar

Thanks @fortcollins, that's the kind of discrepancy I was asking for, although I'm not sure whether the difference might be due to wear or the limits of the photo. I wouldn't be surprised if this turned out to be counterfeit, but I still don't think I could call it based on these photos alone.

ExoGuy it weighs at 27.22g

As the weight is correct, I would compare the thickness to a genuine piece. If the diameter and thickness are correct, it's probably good. Base metal forgeries of silver coins are almost invariably less dense, and this is usually apparent from the increased thickness.

@Zurie, I agree with your response. I'm simply not sure about this one. The difference in the details makes me cautious, though. Raw Trades are always risky (and even certified Trades aren't always a sure thing).

The "repaired" designation wasn't on my radar, but certainly would explain the apparent discrepancies. Thanks for posting the update! Glad it came back authenticated.

Thanks for the update! Definitely wasn't 100% on genuine, but was leaning more that way. Also did not see the "repaired" coming. Still trying to spot the repair.....

Congrats on the genuine grade. I'm also not sure where the repair is, but it's a good result!
