Thanks for sharing those photos. Were they just recently released in a book or have they been in circulation for awhile? I haven't seen those before.

The lady swimming in coins is taken in 1949. The pile consists of 13 1/4 tons of coins. The man wrapped in bills is demonstrating how long one mile of $1 bills is. The man sitting on a pile of dimes is from 1956. It is apparently done for some sort of Olympic promotion (see the 5th picture) I've also added a few more for you. The man rolling coins is from 1945. The boy standing on the coins is from 1966. The women bagging coins is from 1943. For anybody interested in finding your own photos, these are from the recently released archives of LIFE magazine. You can find pictures of any subject dating back to the 1860s, many of them have not been seen for decades. All of the pictures I posted here are available in high resolution (but only the small ones are included due to size restrictions on this site). To search the archives, go to images.google.com, and search "coins source:life" (you can put any subject in, not just coins, and you don't need the quotes). The last picture is described as a man who works for Brink's. Hence the gun.

those were the good old days when you could swim in a pile of silver dollars Whats funny about all the photos is that we probably have current photos of coins that in 200 years people are going to be saying the same thing we are in this post..

I'm surprised the photos of Eliasberg's collection aren't in this post. Life did a story on him right after he completed the collection and they had images of many of the interesting pieces. (My uncle sells old Life magazines and I have seen the actual issue. Also since the Life Archives also includes images that didn't get published there could be several more photos from the Eliasberg collection that haven't been seen.
