I thought that it was a damage, but my concern is perfectly oval-shaped columns.

I think those were distorted by the damage.

What about the inner circle and second columns from the center? There is no distortion there. And bottom steps too; depends on points of pressure though.

noobz, I see you posted your same coin on another thread that was over two years old. If you posted your photo here, why there as well? We try to adhere to "one coin per thread" and if you already posted here, posting there is redundant.

I posted it to the post of the guy who has the same item, hoping he would contact me and tell me the story of his coin. (I noticed it was 2 years old) post

The circular damage on your coin and the other coin just happen to be similar. (This type of damage can be reproduced by any type of hollow tube, including the tips of ball point pens.)

Irregular recessed (incuse) areas on coins are damage 90% of the time.
(Clashes can have incuse areas but yours isn't a clash.)

Some old-style vending machines will do that with coins. I've seen this more frequently on older nickels--generally older than 1995. Buy-the-way, what's the date on your coin?

to Spence:
I am a new user, that option is not allowed. If you can forward my post I will appreciate it.
to ijn1944:
I like your answer! Rather than the delusion about someone knocking it with different diameter pipes like in the other reply.
The year is 1986. So if it is a vending machine it got to be old because circles do not look fresh.
