Thanks. It's a great coin but I'll stick with the 1794, which might make FR2. It's an excellent pocket coin.

To see any coin that old in a mint state grade with luster boggles the mind. How was it stored before modern preservation techniques?

How about the history (ownership) of the coin, is that available; I think that would be a fascinating piece of the coin's story?

ParadimeCoins was the proud owner of this coin prior to its sale. It is simply put the finest type coin of the early Half Dime series and finer than any other example. It broke a new price record and I am sure it is in a great set now. We are humbled to have been the custodian of this fine specimen.

What are the chances that the previous owner is a member here? I will tell you, this coin created quite the buzz around the shop when we heard it was up for sale, great coins to this degree don't come up very often. Since you've had it in hand, I would like to ask a question. On the reverse in the GC photos it looks like there is some light film on the the surface by United States, is that just toning?

thank you kindly. I'm not that active on the forum, but do occasionally check. I do not recall any film on the reverse. Though the reverse toning is slightly different and darker from the obverse. kind regards!
