I'd say MS-63, but a 64 wouldn't be unreasonable.

MS63 due to cheek and neck.

The dark spots on the cheek and neck appear to be mostly breaks in the frost. I think easily MS64+ to MS65 today.

I say MS-63 in the ANACS holder. Conservation at NGC or PCGS and i'd say this moves up to MS-64 with possible MS-65. It's also 1885-CC VAM-3 CC Tilted Left

The 85(CC) should be sharp and bold in strike. this one is right there for strike. luster is broken on obverse. reverse looks pretty good for luster. obverse eye appeal is below average due to the discolorations. surface preservation is below average with more abrasions, marks and scratches on the obverse that I would want to see in a MS64 coin. overall I put it in the MS63 box and dont think it would go any higher than that especially if you went with PCGS

So, the ANACS grade is 64. I bought it for $600 with the hopes of flipping it for a profit. Interesting note. There were 2 1885 CC Morgan dollars in the display. This one and a mid-generation PCGS. Both were graded 64 and the dealer was asking the same price for both. The PCGS coin did not even hold a candle to this coin. It was scuffed up in so many places. I believe that I will send this in to PCGS possibly have them conserve it. If it comes back a 64, I will probably break even on the sale, a 65 I will make a $100 or so. I would rather not mention the other "if"s. I will definitely keep you updated on the grade when it is in.

i say with PCGS you have a 60/40 chance it would come back with a 64. its a chance I probably would not take personally.
