Well CH27, it just seems to be raining these. Found this one a few minutes ago. Wonder why so many ragged clips in roughly the same spot?

What is this called? I found something similar I thought it was just wear and tear.

Nice one bats! I wonder why they are in a similar area. It may just be pure coincidence because I can't think of a process in which the fissure would end up in the same spot when striking the coin. The planchets move and rotate from when the planchet is punched out to when the coin is struck, so I can't see how they would end up in the same spot unless it was pure coincidence. Maybe someone can explain that to me? ae802000, this error is called a ragged clip. Read up on what that kind of error is here: http://www.error-ref.com/ragged-clips/-CH27

Nice find CH. I don't miss normal clips, but these are a bit harder for me to determine compared to just damage. Probably zip through the coins to quickly.

Thanks Sheldius! I must admit when I initially found it I almost threw it back thinking it was damaged but figured it could be a curved clip with damage so I kept it. Glad I did! ae802000, you would like websites for varieties or errors? I can name a couple. -CH27
