Well I had an interesting 'find' : I asked the bank teller for $25 of pennies (forgetting that was a box) and was interested when it came in one. However, by the time I'd gotten to looking at the box, and noticed it was taped up, I didn't have time to go back. I now have $25 worth of shrink-wrapped 2009 mint cents.
I'll be going back to the bank tonight, hopefully getting some OLD coins this time ;)

I go to the bank almost every Saturday and buy $3 in pennies - USA. I am looking for scarce varieties including 1998, 1999 and 2000 Wide AM. Also look for 1995D double die on obv, 1984 dbl ear (found 1 in MS63) and 1983 dbl "cent" on rev. I find about 1 Wheat cent in every 200 pennies that I go through. Not very expensive. And of course, the rewards of finding one of these is Priceless!

Well, I've been away a while... but I did another $20 and I think it was a good time to do so: Found this time: Canada: 1940s - 2 1950s - 6 1960s - 30 USA: 1920s - 1 (1925S in Good+/Fine condition) 1940s - 4 (including a steel 1943S) 1950s - 1 1960s - 8 No other countries found (but I did get a Canadian dime ) Also found a clipped 1980 Canadian cent, and 1975 American cent that is covered in a fools-gold colour of something, and a few 1960s-1980s XF+ Canadian cents :) Total found: 1 Cent (26500 searched so far): Canada: Years - count - 1 every how many coins 1920s - 0 - / 1930s - 2 - 13250 1940s - 26 - 1019 1950s - 97 - 273 1960s - 607 - 44 USA: 1920s - 3 - 8833 1930s - 1 - 26500 1940s - 17 - 1559 1950s - 25 - 1060 1960s - 105 - 252

Going through a roll of 2007 nickels found this one with what appears to be a bag mark but it is Orange in color. No matter what light or angle the coin is held the mark remains Orange.

Hey again, did $25 more:
Found today:
Canada:
1940s - 3 1950s - 6 1960s - 64
USA:
1950s - 2 1960s - 6
No other countries found :(
Others: a slightly clipped 1975 cent, and quite a decent amount of XF+ 60s-90s cents.
Total found:
1 Cent (29000 searched so far) = $290 = 580 rolls:
Canada: Years - count - 1 every how many coins 1920s - 0 - / 1930s - 2 - 14500 1940s - 29 - 1000 1950s - 103 - 282 1960s - 663 - 44
USA: 1920s - 4 - 7250 1930s - 1 - 29000 1940s - 17 - 1706 1950s - 27 - 1074 1960s - 111 - 261
Over halfway to my goal of having searched 1000 rolls = $500 :)

I got a batch of 20 rolls of dimes and got a nice surprise. Three of the rolls dated back to 1974. Mostly nickel dimes from 1968 to 1974 (were almost uncirculated) were present in the 3 rolls. I also found 3 silver dimes, 1 x 1970 dime and only one American dime in the 3 rolls. Even back in 1974, it took 50 dimes before you found one silver dime. 35 years later I have to go through 1000 dimes to find 1 silver dime and 5000 to 10000 dimes before I find a 1970 dime.

Does anyone have a couple of pictures comparing the regular cents and the cents with a "P". I'm collecting Canadian cents from U.S. rolls and have about 30 different dates so far, but I'm not sure what the "P" looks like. Thanks.

Thanks d23! Now I know what to look for. I had a magnifying glass on the things thinking it was tiny and hidden, but it looks like it's pretty bold under the portrait. Now if only I can find some in U.S. cent rolls...

Was this one of the first coin roll threads on this site? Boy did it sink to the bottom of the great abyss and it seems to have taken all the members that posted on the thread with it. None of them are familiar names that I've seen recently. Bump Bump almost forgotten thread. I feel like I just found a really ancient thread while Thread Roll Hunting!
