haha, I think I had one of those back then! I really don't know what I ever did with it though.

Congrats.
I think I read somewhere that one of the grading services would actually slab the coin and note Cherrios Penny in the description.
Not going any further with the comments, because I too have one in my collection.

Ya, I got one too, don't tell anyone though. It was one of those "gotta have" cents :)

Isn't it true that a small percentage have been found to have come from dies meant for Proof pennies, and they have the " Wide AM" reverse die type.

Hummm....are these known to sometimes be Wide AM? First I've heard that, but I seriously doubt it.

Hey cool, I picked up a Cheerio Cent at a coin show for $1 last month. If it was a baseball card it'd be a 9.5 grade as far as the original packaging.

I found one of these under some melting snow, on the street years ago! I thought at the time it was a Proof Penny. Just tossed in my strong box and forgot about it until I saw this post. Thanks for letting me know what it really is! Apparently, some of the cereal boxes contained a dollar and a penny. Unfortunately, I didn't find the dollar.
