MR. Finger, just a quick note;I was not pointing the finger at you( just kidding) I simply meant that I too was interested in the answer or reason to how the coin got to look this way.Believe me I was NOT insinuating anything, also believe me, I would state and do state just what I mean, this was in no way an insult to you, not my style .I too was wondering how this happened,HAS ANYONE LEARNED ANYTHING FROM THIS POST??. We all have our opinions and are entitled to just that, I happen to agree that I disagree with some, and I can accept that.I have read many statements on this forum and this thread is just a prime example of the fact we all do not agree on everything and that is just what an open forum, like this, is all about, just my equal opinion, BE WELL... PS; bmanofnbc, well said!! As the coin flips!!

New Collectors should never be made too look stupid,so,that they quit asking questions...

Newbies are nowhere near discouraged nor made fun of here. Ever. I'm still a newbie and can attest to that! I ask waaaay dumb questions but am always treated with respect and sometimes even given links to information to help me learn.

There is no body language here on the internet to read along with what is typed.. since the experts who answer questions do so from facts and not emotion, it would be good to keep that in mind to avoid mistaking the tone of their answer(s).

It's very damaged. Exactly what caused it...doesn't really matter to me.

I think it matters to the posters and to the others who are not experts in errors or die variety, etc.

I myself would want to know how it was damaged as the coin was not destroyed (hammered or twisted) to conclude it was damaged. It could have been dipped in acid, (intentionally or unintentionally, we don't care), but how it was damaged is a good learning point.

"Experts" should expect to get more of this type of questions from newcomers or newbies.

I somehow missed this exchange until now. I would ask all who believe CC needs to adjust his modus operendi to read his recent post. Chuck is Chuck and an invaluable resource in our little family. It helps to know him first and this thread will provide an intro to the man that is one of the worlds' renowned experts on copper coins ... he also rides a Harley, like me, so he can't be all bad.

Can't have it both ways.
I ride a harley as well and joined this forum anyway.

It's not having both ways my friend, we just really don't care if damaged was intentional or not. If coin was runover by a car or a truck, who cares? What matters is what happened to the coin.
