Very Nice. Got a SUPER SANTA for sure. Amazing 100 year old coin and in fantastic condition. All I got for Christmas was a puppy that leaves land mines all over my house.

Man santa has a good eye for detail! I would have to do like six years worth of honey do's for santa to leave me an 09 proof! -I did get a four foot tall tempered glass container to put my copper cents in, I thought I had a lot, now looks like a drop in the bucket...more hunting ahead. Congrats!

So how do you guys know it's proof? I thought to be proof it needed to have the mirrored background.

Quote: So how do you guys know it's proof? I thought to be proof it needed to have the mirrored background. the term proof is used for coins struck with carefully prepared dies for presentation purposes rather than for commerce. there are matte proofs, brilliant proofs, and satin proofs. you're thinking of only the brilliant proofs. proof 1909 cents were matte proofs, which gave them a rough looking appearance because the dies were sandblasted. matte proofs werent really popular at the time but have gained popularity since. the one in the picture is a really nicely untoned example. many are blue, purple, orange, green, yellow, and just about every other color.

Thanks everyone I am super happy with it! By the way I forgot the grade, it's a PCGS slabbed PR65RB.

Beautiful! I got Bose noise canceling headphones, "the Beatles Christmas album", and a 2008 mint set, but nothing like this!
