There were NO 1964 Flat pak SMS sets issued .
The only 1964 SMS coins are from the EVA ADAMS
ESTATE. She was director of the US Mint at the time .
Most if not all of the known coins were later acquired by Lester
Merkin and subsequently sold in a NY Stacks auction.
So unless you were a relative of any of the above , good
luck . There are NO 1964 SMS coins in the wild .
This topic has been mentioned here on way too many
occasions !

hey Pacificoin,
I know that, you know that, we here all (hopefully all) know that, what we are talking about is some jackarse selling them and trying to sell more of them.

So please stop banging your head against a wall because this subject came up again.

By the way - thanks for the history lesson - that stuff you posted was something I did not know.

Take a look at the ebayer up above and look at what he is trying to sell as "mint issue coins in the hard packs.

He says he is selling "1964 US Mint Coin Set in Genuine US Special Mint Set SMS Holder Silver Kennedy!" So, yes, he is selling a US mint coin set, and yes it is in a genuine mint set SMS holder. Misleading, yes. Fraud, probably not. Really not any worse than sellers selling "unsearched" rolls of coins in "original wrappers". This seller seems to like selling coins in govt holders in a thinly veiled attempt to trick a buyer into thinking the coins originally came in the holders. It's up to the buyers to do their due diligence and it helps if they are literate and know what they are buying.

If he were selling the coins at close to their actual value, most of us likely wouldn't have a problem. But this guy is likely turning close to a $70 profit with each and every transaction on this item. People like this give the hobby a very bad name. No bueno.

So how about the TV coin guys who sell coins often at twice or more of what anyone could buy the same things for. Should they be banned?

No one should be banned, we should all educate and/or get educated. This is why CCF exists!
