Very nice looker

If I may ask, how/why do you say it was dipped? Just for my education.

Silver that's 100 years old will tarnish (tone). It's true that in most cases toned coins prove "originality". While knowledgeable numismatists for the past few decades have drilled into us that originality is what we should all seek, there is a large but silent group, including me, that prefers silver coins to look as if they were made yesterday, particularly 20th century silver. This allows the coin to look like the designor intended it to look.

Too much dipping will strip away the natural luster of a coin, leaving it white, but flat. That is NOT good at all. However, even CAC, who is very tough on how coin surfaces are handled, will apply their sticker to coins whose outer "skin" has been removed by gentle dipping to reveal the true "original" beautiful luster underneath.

Here's a hotlink to my 50 Coin Classic Silver Commem Type Set. While the "Not So" True Views show tremendous detail, they often do not show the true luster of the coin in hand. So in this set, if you click on the photo of a coin, you can then use the arrows to see other photos provided of that same coin, along with others. All 50 coins have a CAC.

Those are nothing short of some of the most beautiful coins I have ever seen. Eye candy for me.

You are way too kind, but thank you! Feel free to take a peek at the hotlink in my "Signature" area at the bottom of each of my posts that shows my Digital Dansco 7070 Registry Set.

Spent 3 long years of my life down the road from Sedalia. Not much going on there in 1994...imagine there was a whole lot of nothing going on there in 1921.

This sounds like the quote "I spent a week in Cleveland one weekend", lol. You spent three long years in Sedalia Missouri in 1994!!!!!

NEW UPDATE!!!

I liked this coin so much, I submitted it a month ago to PCGS for Reconsideration. I just received the result late this afternoon, and it was upgraded from its MS65 grade to MS65+.

Since the cert number remains unchanged with Reconsideration, and it didn't get upgraded to the next whole grade number, CAC will automatically reapply the CAC sticker (and the cost is only about $5 for restickering).

Thanks.

By the way, my Uncle Howard Feiertag is 93 and still teaching at VT. They've named his department after him - it's officially called the Howard Feiertag Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management.

Happy Hunting for your Missouri upgrades.

Wow, that's really something! As my username implies, I graduated from VT in '82, with a MS degree in Math. I only spent two years there (my undergrad work was at Arkansas State), but Blacksburg is a wonderful town in a beautiful part of Virginia.
