You should find the 2010 and 2019 with different ones.

I assume it's just like the lettering, if I was home I could stack up 20 and they would probably be all different like they wouldn't line up

So if I have 2 2012 toonies and put them together I can line up the serrations, but if I straighten the coins they don't match up. Like if the counts are completely straight matching up the pictures but the edging dosnt match up together

serrations, and obverse image, will be random, the coins serration's are added after the coin is struck, so they will be completely random..

There are coins that have a different number of serration's, but that is another discussion, that is here, if you search for it..

Thanks alot:) I couldn't find the info online so I was going to see if all the coins I had didn't match up on the rims. Iv been trying to figure what's up with the toonie I thought was a fake because of the sound but apparently is real so I'm researching toonies. But not much info on the sound it makes or how to test metal content etc. Still need a scale as well.

You need access to an XRF to xray the coin to find it"s content, large coin sores or gold dealers will probably have one

Well check out the 2012 toonie I posted. I posted a video to show the sound difference on it, it's a rough grout floor, the only other toonies iv found like this are fakes. But to date, there are no security toonies faked

Is this a way to distinguish counterfeits?

I'm not sure. The new counter fits I posted a picture of one all the new one have a weird slit in the front right paw. And the one I have sounds like the other toonie I posted about that I thought was a fake due to the sound it makes when dropped or slid, but apparently there are no know fakes past 2012 because of the new security features added that year. But as far as I know none of the fakes sound right. As for the slits on the edge not lining up I'm not sure if that's normal or not no one has confirmed yet, and I was to lazy to dump out my kids piggy bank to see if any of the toonies I have match up. Tho my two 2012 toonies slits don't match up so I assume it's just completely random

Silver wolf confirmed that the Slits that are around the edge and the lettering are both added after they are stamped so it's normal that they wouldn't line up, thanks silver wolf
