See that is why there is this thing here. We all want to welcome people so much it is as common as a smiling face. The chances that that coin has had the Copper removed, plated at school chem class, coated for the fun of it by almost anyone. I've seen at places where they demomstrate Chome cleaners by polishing a cent. It turns a little like Silver. Of course there is a possibility that some dumb counterfeiter made it out of pure Platinum.

Thanks to all for the welcomes and the info. I haven't taken the pics yet but I will as soon as my wife finishes sending me on errands! From all the feed-back, I think I have an altered coin - OR a counterfeit platinum -OOW WEE!!

OK I have some pics - I didn't know it was so hard to photograph coins! I tried proping it up with other coins & white & black backgrounds. This is the best shots I have, Any tips on doing a better job of taking coin pics? I'm going to try & upload these now. If anyone can see them let me know & also let me know what the coin is. NOTE: When I tried to upload the pics I got a message that the file or something has too much attached (file name I think) and that the picture was too big. I send pics in my e-mails all the time with no problem. I don't know much more about computers than I do about coins. With that statement said - can anyone guide me through uploading pics?

Quote: Any tips on doing a better job of taking coin pics? I am far from being an expert myself, but I can say the best advice is found in the Coin Photography Forum! Quote: can anyone guide me through uploading pics? Start with the Photo Upload Tutorial. Keep in mind that your files need to be under 100k in size, or else you will have to host them off-site (photobucket, flickr, etc). You can resize them with the "Paint" program that comes with Windows (using the stetch/skew feature), but the I feel its JPG algorithm is rather inefficient and the image ends up being too small after getting it below 100k. If you need help resizing them, I can recommend some free programs to do the job a little easier and without having to shrink the resolution down too much.

I can't get the pictures to upload. I tried the program in windows and I thought I had downsized one picture but it didn't work. If anyone wants to see apicture of the coin I could e-mail the picture to you. I know that works!!

Have you tried the 'Add image' under the reply to this topic? You can't have any spaces in filenames. Or I use Photobucket.

What size is the picture file now? Did you save it as a JPEG (JPG)?

Go to Photobucket.com, upload the pics, click on the last URL in the dropdown menu under your pic, copy, then paste right into your thread. Couldn't be easier and works like a charm.
