Is this what coins and Canada calls a rippled coin? I doubt there is value in this "error" if this is one but the surface looks like it almost covered in pores You can see it when you look on an angle at the coin but it's hard to see straight on.

A completely different haul then the last bunch, this one wasn't a collector drop so I am finding much more variety:). I found a 1947 blunt7 maple Lear that even has some mint luster left. These ones seem to be in better shape then the collection drop I got. Also about 1/3 of all the cents are americain. Iv pulled a few older west cents and a lot of other dates. I need to get an American cent album:)

Start a Canadian cent album if you haven't already. It sounds like you'll be able to get most of the dates from 1950's to 2012.

@Cdncoins, I need an album for that as well, I believe I have all dates and verities (minus a few super rares) from 1937-2012. I think americain cents I have most dates but not from all mints between 1910-2021, I'm missing a fair amount between 1910-1950 but I have a bunch of the wear cents in between those dates. I'll need to order an album for both Canada and USA cents.

You need to put the coins in 2x2's then into the 20 pocket pages that go into a 3 ring binder. Then get a Canadian catalogue "Charlton Standard Catalogue" in one of the recent years, then get " The Official Red Book of US coins" one of the recent years. With both of these books you will know what you have and what to look for.

I am sort of surprised....most banks branches (Canada) tell me they aren't allowed to sell pennies back to the public; instructions from administration is to send the coins to the eiher the bank central locations or to the mint

@mcshilling, ya I'll have to get the pages and a new Charlton, currently I'm using a 2015, and I have 2×2s I'll have to start sorting and labeling.
@Cdmgmt, ya banks are no longer aloud to sell them to customers but I guess branch workers have access to them and can take them out. Since I have a friend he's able to get me all the pennies that come into his branch.

Yes you are right BUT he has a friend and it's under the table. I just looked at Colonial Acres , you need Volume 1 , they have a 68th edition for $4.95 but it is 2014 or you go to 2016 and get the 70th edition for $9.95 then there is the newest for $29 US Red Book is $25 Canadian or go to a book store and see what they have.

If you are going to be saving all the cents with errors and varieties that I think that you will, you should put them in 1 1/2 X 1 1/2's instead of 2X2's. That way, you get 30 coins to a page rather than just 20 to a page. I use that for all my large cents and there is more than enough room to put all the writing that you want on them. Even at the 30 to a page, the albums can get pretty thick.

@okiecoiner, thanks for the tip, I might store my best finds in the 2×2s I have for now because my friend gave me a bunch when she game me her collection to check out. I'll definitely have to store my commemorative toonies and loonies when I get home in 2×2s.

I'm thinking this new lot of pennies may be a collection drop as well, or at least someone looking for the rare 2006 no logo non magnetic. There is probably like 1/5 of every coin is a no logo 2006 1/3 are americain, the rest are mixed year Canadian with a lot of 1985 blunt 5s. Though I'm fairly happy with all the older American coins in finding.

I haven't bothered to check the 2006 no logos with a magnet but I think there is no point:p

Another 20 penny rolls, looks like it's going to be mostly American, I can tell just by the specific rolls that are used to roll them, I guess Canadian rolls are different the American. But out of the few I searched there is definitely some much better shape older cents in the rolls, I'm excited to go through all the American coins. There is many 1960-1980 in fairly good shape. I'll have to look up some special years to look for, there is so many errors I'm not aware of yet.
