Congrats! I've been trying to get one the same way you did, and it continues to elude me.

Thanks Tanman! It really is a tough variety. Been through a lot of 1917's and this is the very first one I've found. Well worth the hunt. Keep looking!

Congrats on a super pickup.
That separation on TRUST is what usually does it for me. Especially the separation on the TRU and with how wide the vertical on the last T is, compared to the horizontal bar.

Thank you Pete! My go-to spot is always the date first, looking for that forked 9. Even if I don't see anything immediately on the date I'll scan over TRUST just to be sure. As you mentioned, the wide separation is pretty dramatic on TRUST.

You can generally just glance at TRUST for these and see it's very thick. Yours is a super example showing all the separation lines and in general a stellar example. Great find and congrats on the addition to your collection.

Thank you bats, Jim0815! I'm glad this coin found its way to my collection! I was honestly a little surprised it came out looking as good as it does. There were some less than great coins in that roll, and this was one of the better ones.

Great find. That is definitely a good eye required on the "9" and "trust" to find.

Thanks Sheldius! After looking at so many 1917's going after this DDO-001, once you spot one it's easy to see.

Great find CH27!
I haven't really been able to visit the forum too much anymore as work is keeping me busy, but your post stood out to me. Wanted to congratulate you on it! I love these varieties, and I'm very happy to hear another one has been found, especially by you!
