Davis....
...Glad you finally got there !....
As far as the bags.....yeah....I checked and they aren't available anymore you're right.....but I got to thinking....I never did click on "the bags" until just now to look at it, I just assumed (maybe wrongly) they were available too, since they were listed right there right with the rolls, without actually clicking on that one to see.....so they may have been "no longer available" for quite some time, I don't know. Didn't have any interest in the bags, so I never looked. But they were listed there, right with the rolls together since the first time I looked a ways back.

So, anyway.......BACK TO THAT ebay SELLER ! SOMEONE SHOULD TELL HIM DIFFERENT !

That'll keep him from misinforming potentially thousands of people.....but more importantly.....price gouging them !

THEY'RE STILL NOT SOLD OUT !
You can still order the 200 coin bags and the two set rolls of the 2008 Kennedy's......
Someone should sue that ebay seller for false advertisement !
True, but considering the average ebay user probably has no idea about this "hidden" item on the Mint's web site, for all intents and purposes they ARE "sold out". It doesn't seem to matter so much anyway... on ebay the 2008 Kennedy rolls are STILL selling at or below the issue price, even after having disappeared from the Mint's main ordering page. Sellout or not, there seems to be little to no demand for these coins whatsoever =(

The seller took it off his list and dropped the price some I think.. The bags have been sold out for quite some time well at least a month.. I would have ordered the bag if possible but I had to buy the rolls b/c bags were sold out... No worries about there not being a demand right now b/c there is not much demand for anything right now.. but I can promise you one day there will be 2,3 or more million collectors of this Kennedy series and they will need a coin from my roll

Let's hope so. I've now got 3 sets of the P & D rolls. (as soon as my order comes in anyway).
And I don't mind sitting on them for 30 years or so ......
And maybe it will remain THE lowest minted Kennedy for the duration too.

Yes, I don't think all ebay sellers know whether the 2008 were sold out or not. I wrongly assumed they sold out when it disappeared from the bags & rolls section- they should do a better job of re-directing you or telling you where to find them.

So far I haven't been able to pick up any rolls on ebay at or below issue price. And it puzzles me that anyone would list them below issue price and then loss money on the fees etc. Why not just sit on them and wait for the mint to sell out?

Auction results from the most recent 2008 P&D Kennedy roll sets sold on ebay:

Jan 15, 2009 (item # 320331288536) $28.00 + $6.99 shipping
Jan 17, 2009 (item # 390024202139) $41.95 + $5.95 shipping
Jan 20, 2009 (item # 380097690451) $31.15 + $free shipping
Jan 26, 2009 (item # 260351644195) $33.05 + $1.68 shipping

Low mintage, but low demand.

Thanks for that info rbf. Only one of these- if you include shipping, ended below the US Mint's price plus shipping. It still puzzles me why anyone would buy these from the US Mint and then turn around and sell them on ebay for what would be a loss after fees.

Well..... I still hope that 25 to 30 years from now, the lowest mintage Kennedy will have a BETTER VALUE THAN THAT ! They are still for sale right now, and I wouldn't expect to "be in the black" just quite this early !...........so "low price but low demand" could change over time.
Another thing to consider......THEY MAY DISCONTINUE THIS KENNEDY SERIES AT ANY TIME. It could be like the Ike. (just hopefully better value). And after a few years of being discontinued, maybe the price on "the lowest minted Kennedy" will be a little more desirable.
But, as I've said......I've never sold a coin in my life....and never intend to, so the fact that they're cheaper on ebay now than buying right from the Mint (which puzzles me too....because that's just idiotic) doesn't dissuade me from my interest in the 2008 Kennedys. (or the '06, '07, or the '09's which I have also in two rolls sets)
