Looks like obverse 1, reverse A, WB-1 (WB-102), with the repunched "40" and very weak east-west die crack from 9:00 to 3:00-ish on the reverse. I see the obverse markers (die chip on Liberty's neck and die polishing lines between the foot and the dentils) and on the reverse (die polishing lines from the dentils to STATES). Just a bit of a soft strike, most noticeable on the shield and lower ribbon and the eagle's head. IMHO, there is too much detail on Liberty's foot, hair curls, the cap, and stars for EF-40. The reverse is far too sharp for 40. I'm at obverse EF-45, reverse AU-50, net my classic future EF-48. For now, though, I see a TPG landing at EF-45. Very nice original example!

fortcollins thank you for your thoughtful analysis as always - just pointing out that this is a silver dollar using the Dick Osburn and Brian Cushing variety designation, not the Randy Wiley and Bill Bugert half dollar variety designation.

Obverse surface appeared to have a old cleaning and toned back. I'm going with EF-45.

Quote: Obverse surface appeared to have a old cleaning and toned back From the photos provided what evidence are you seeing that there has been an old cleaning?

@Slider, I'm looking at the dark spotted areas, and comparing the clean raise area without the background toning present, but that could also be cause by storage environment.

EF Details. The area just above the date looks suspicious to me on the second set of photos.
