Well you can remove me from the list! Today I received a large envelope which contained a very nice Christmas Card with a hand written note, along with an assortment of foreign and US coins and the only $1.00 note from Bermuda that I have in my collection.
Excellent!

Wornslick, that's awesome that you got variety in coins and a banknote! I am sure Secret Santa is very glad to know you like them and even pleased that Bermuda $1 note is your first!
Your message will be relayed via Secret Santa helper.

I especially like Bermuda $1 and Indian Head cent.

The event is about giving and enjoying one another, the fact that it seems to be getting complicated seems pointless.

@Wrekkdd, I agree with you on this point, hopefully, we can improve a bit so we would have a better and more enjoyable Secret Santa exchange.

Thank you for explaining what a video drop is. That means video clip has to be very brief as e-mail can only send up certain number of mbs. Not sure if rrgoodie accept texts or Dropbox or Google Drive? I think photos are better in this case.

@ jeffbuckes, yes, anything that is over 1/4 inches are automatically package rated especially for international shipping. For domestic shipping, it depends as they do have surcharge for this purpose in my case, it usually is 78 cents instead of 58 cents. It is because of sorting machines, but I am not sure. I understand they took them out?

Some postal clerks do not have much knowledge about the international shipping which is a headache for me. I had to fought several times to get them to see the differences, etc. then they usually agree with me.

Now international shipping is outrageous. It is a shame as it means we will do less shipping abroad. I think? For me, I am familiar with high postage from Europe. I always tell myself that it is cheaper than flying into to buy anything there.

So do I. I had the chance to live in Bermuda for 3 years. So I have a few bills myself.
@Wornslick: If you want to learn about the Bermuda dollar bill, I can tell you that it trades at the same exchange as the U.S. Dollar - one for one. I think it is one if not the only foreign currency that trades on an equal playing field.

Yes, that is correct that Bermuda dollar is on par with US dollar due to the tourism and trade.

Bahamas dollar is on par with our dollar as well. Cayman Islands dollar is not quite on par with our dollar but it is locked at US$1.20. East Caribbean States dollar is locked at $2.70 to our dollar. Lastly, Barbados dollar is locked at $2 for US dollar. I think Netherlands Antilles guider is linked to US dollar, too. Not sure about that.

Many people do not know that Hong Kong dollar was linked to US dollar until some years ago.

Interestingly, Bahamas and Bermuda dollars are not really traded internationally.

Sorry if this is too much information.

PS: anyone else in the US notice that mailboxes now only have a narrow slit? Can't fit anything more than a thin letter in there now. Everything else MUST be handled inside the PO. Meanwhile, I just got a good-sized PACKAGE from a collector in Europe. No stamps, no forms, no return address. He paid online in his country, HAND WROTE the postage code in the upper-right hand corner, and dropped it in the mailbox. Took 5 weeks to get to me but I got it safe and sound.

There's a drive up mailbox in the parking lot across the street from my post office with an extended receiving slot where I can put in small packages from my car window. The slot has a height that can probably fit up to a small flat rate Priority Mail box if the package is rigid; although, I've been able to shove in larger items in a padded envelope that weren't rigid (i.e. piece of clothing). Never had any of those packages come back to me or rejected.

Using Pirate Ship to buy labels has saved me a lot of headache (and cheaper than buying directly from USPS) since a lot of the document shipments I've sent in manila envelopes could go cheaper for just normal first class than what I pay for the tracking number to make it FCP (around $3.50), but I like having the peace of mind with the tracking number and have never had a piece of mail not eventually show up that had a tracking number associated with it.

So far I have learned that the Israel coin is made of aluminum.

The Netherland coin is not the Mule variety.

The Russian Coin has stars and dots on the edge and is my first Russian Coin in my collection.

Thanks to Carrigna and Dearborn for the info on the Bermuda dollar bill.

I never send more than 1 coin by letter abroad. Moreover, I never risk sending large-diameter coins.

Interesting fact. In Russia, any packages are sent with tracking. Especially if they go abroad. I admit that there is a way to send without tracking, but postal workers have never offered me such a thing.

All the parcels I received from the USA were shipped for $15.25. I think this money is worth it to protect yourself and know where your parcel is. Perhaps if you are traveling within your country, you can save money and send it without tracking, but I would recommend that you insure yourself abroad and overpay.

Thats what it is Slerk, A likeness of Vladimir Lenin I guess on the back with 1870-1970 under his head. And on the front some Russian words. Could you possibly translate them for me?

@Slerk, I agree with you on the postal matter. BUT you would have to forgive us as we are not used to high cost of posting overseas now. In the past, it was very reasonable to send mail abroad. That is probably the case for some of our members here.

@Wornslick, here's the link: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces4591.html

It does translate what was written on this commemorative one ruble from the USSR. Yes, Slerk is correct that it commemorates Lenin's birthday—specifically 100th Anniversary of his birth.

Hope this helps a bit?

PS Yes, that Israeli coin is made of aluminum and is 1 agora which is hundredth of old currency Israeli pound.

The gift I sent arrived back here at the north pole on Thursday morning.
The addressee did not pick it up despite being sent a notification by the carrier.
I'm baffled!
I will not resend it to the same recipient.

However, I see there are a couple of others who have not received a gift, if you can shoot me an address I would be more than happy to send the gift to someone else.

Very disheartening DBM. Sleep well knowing you did all you could, and very generous to offer the gift up for a 2nd time. .

1870 is the year of birth of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin. 1970 is the year of issue of the coin. Thus, this is a commemorative ruble in honor of the 100th anniversary of Lenin's birth.

Carrigna, was right about this relationship.
