Someone one found the exact same thing on one of their 2021-D's: http://goccf.com/t/410124I agree with the determination on that thread, detached rim finning.

Ok gonna take an after photo now. With a loop I can see very slight couple marks, but don't think will be able to see with naked eye. Will see what can do. Had already thrown away the piece of metal or would have taken pic of it as well. Wouldn't lemme do 2 pics in one post or would have copied the before as well but can see original pic

huh, it all came off. Looks like you have a very nice coin now. This rim finning seems to be happening a lot on these coins. I wonder if the Mints tolerances are a tad too tight and the coins are 'getting a shave' with each strike.

Was really small and to be honest it popped off onto the floor and my eyes aren't as good as they used to be so finding it was virtually impossible. Tried but knew was going to be a futile effort. . Thought it might be silver tho.

rim burr, the condition on this coin was a rim burr. not a struck through rim burr though, just one that was barely attached and came off with light fiddling.
probably came loose when they put it in the capsule.

I have 2 out of 3 2021 Morgan dollars that have the die crack in the top of the bonnet. I sent them in too ngc for grading and they came back ms 69 so I called ngc and they stated that although it's a die crack it's not significant enough for them to recognize it. Way back in 2021 psuman08 posted the same coin and crack. Has there been any update on this die crack?
