Any chance you could post up a picture of the 1953 - Set Small cardboard box with stapled plastic envelopes?
Thanks

I believe this is the box that purelywasted was referring to. It's just cheap cardboard. When I got the set from ebay, there were no plastic envelopes, just tissue paper. The coins were loose, and marked up a bit. Also seems they weren't all PL. I don't know who wrote on it, but it looks like it could be of that time.

Thanks for posting those Terryt and chadcoins. Same box as mine the little sleaves are same as well, we're stapled together as well.
Chadcoins box looks more rectangular, mine is square. @pacific might know more about different boxes, he helped with mine.
Coins were decent shape, no pl or sp, I think my dollar came back a ms65, don't remember if I sent others in.

When I purchased this set from the original owner he gave me a letter of it origin. It wasnt long after he passed away. His letter and the 1951 box makes it very special and gives all of us what was in the box.

The RCM reported selling uncirculated individual coins to "sundry persons" from 1949 onwards. They did not record the numbers of full sets sold until 1959. " Dominion Decimals" page 312.

TerryT, The box you show resembles the USA style box with coins placed in the cellophane envelopes.

chadcoins, Great info and pictures. Do you have better pictures of the brown tape that seals the box for shipping? Any signs of RCM on that brown tape at all? Great letter you have there. What is mentioned in the letter is what I've heard, is that these sets were purchased through RCM mint tours at the visitors/gift shop or whatever it may have been called back them.

purelywasted, Do you still have the original box? Did the brown tape have the RCM labeling on them? Were the staples rusted? That seems to be a common theme for these sets, rusted staples. Thanks for all the reply!!

There is no RCM trade marks any where on the 1951 set.
