Notice those blotches below the mint mark? That's the beginning stages of zinc rot. Kiss this one goodbye.

Hi Hobart,

This is positively not RPM#6. The mint mark is in the wrong location.

Going by the images posted:

In my opinion this is MD. The common "at a glance" tell-tale is circled in this edited copy of your posted image. I expect with a bit of research about MD while focusing on this feature of your coin will prove educational. Hope this helps!

We need to see the full date and mintmark area in one image. If it is that number, location would have to match. Also seeing the date to see if the same thing is going on with all the digits. If they are the same, then it is MD. So seeing a full date and mintmark in would be helpful.

Looks like the MM was smeared or something hit it to push it west, causing this appearance. I think this is normal PMD, not MD.

Just what was it that you suppose singled out the MM?
I would see that and think MD but I am still trying to learn.

With all due respect, this is not even a plausible theory. The mm has not taken a hit at all. There isn't even the first sign, or blemish, of PMD that would be consistent with moving the mm in any direction. The D mm is perfectly intact.

Context given, I don't have a problem with a disagreement. I might have used the wrong terms and stuff but as mentioned above, this is a good example of zinc rot. IMHO not an RPM.

The third image from the top. Note the lower loop area is not showing a contour. on that area. On the '9' you can see more MD on that device as well. Thus it is not a RPM but MD. Also note that the mintmark is not enlarged. The affected area has been alter by the die after the strike that made the contour to be removed.

I found 1987-D WRPM-011/rpm-006 which looks very similar to this one. This was the 4th edition of "Strike it Rich" by Ken Potter and Dr. Brian Allen. Almost Identical...
