Bobby brings up a very valid question, as ebay deems coins over a certain amount need to be certified (by one of the verified ebay certification companies) to list them.

I believe that amount is $1000 if they haven't changed the rules yet again, (I saw they had sent me a changes to their user agreement, and I haven't gone over it yet, as I'm not currently listing stuff).

Westcoin
You cannot list a raw coin over $2500.00 US unless it has been certified
by one of the 4 ebay accepted graders

Get them certified by ICCS.....that's a good rule by ebay......As a seasoned collector, I'm always wary of any high value coin that isn't certified. To me, that's a Red Flag.

I didn't actually know that, I regularly see the odd listing for 1000-200,000$ on ebay for un certified coins. So there is a rule no coin over 1000$ can be in certified?

Thank you for the help y'all. Since its impossible to speak with anyone at ebay who has the ability to explain things, I am making the assumption that the $2500 max value rule for uncertified coins is the reason my coins were removed and that their claim of "counterfeit item" is an general term they use whenever they remove a coin for any reason. Interestingly, the ebay.ca website which is where I list all of my items since I am located in Canada, makes no mention of the $2500 rule in the verbiage of their "Collectible Currency Policy." The ebay.com does:

At least you know why they were removed. I never would have guessed those pieces were that valuable.

And you are correct that many sellers list raw coins over $2,500 and those too would be removed if caught.

Here's a 1948 $1 in PCGS 66 for $70k USD! Holy splashdown Batman!

It's actually worse than that.

Third paragraph from ebay.ca "collectible currency policy"
Quote:
Listings for current, exchangeable, ungraded currency from any country worldwide cannot exceed $1,000 in value, whether in a single listing or in a combination of multiple listings.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

DBM that one made my heart sink when I initially read it but I think they are referring to "current" modern currency that is widely exchangeable for example at a retail level. Coins like silver dollars and 50 cent pieces although are currency, are not widely exchangeable. Plus, without applying this interpretation to the two paragraphs below, they contradict one another. Again, this is only my interpretation because its not possible to talk to an actual human who is knowledgeable at ebay.

Paragraph 2: Listings for ungraded coins and currency or raw currency: ...Must have a starting, reserve, or Buy It Now price of less than $2,500

Paragraph 3: Listings for current, exchangeable, ungraded currency from any country worldwide cannot exceed $1,000 in value, whether in a single listing or in a combination of multiple listings

Current and exchangeable includes legal tender and such things as one, two and thousand dollar notes which are no longer legal tender but are still redeemable.
Your 1948 dollars are still current legal tender.
