I just bought an Intel QX3 and I cannot use it on VISTA or LINIX on my other PC.
If anyone knows where to get the drivers for stuff like this. Please help!

G'Day all received the patch for the QX5 and it didn't work with the Vista ,the only thing to do is go back to the Windows XP that way I know it works

Yeah, I have a second hard drive in my spare PC with XP on it. I guess I'll have to mess with BIOS and hook up the ribbon cable just to use the microscope. LOL!
Just another thing to add to my list of things to do.

Hey wheezydog have you tried this. http://linux.wareseeker.com/free-qx3/ It's for linux and is supposed to work with the qx3. I do not know if it works or not as I don't have one.

Thank you Southern Yankee, I shall give it a try now.
I'll edit with results.

Late edit: NO LUCK ... I think switching Hard Drive over to XP is my only hope. Southern Yankee thanks for trying though, that is GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Oh I have the CD to install, if you need a copy, I have that, but it is only for XP and earlier versions of Windows.

Big-byte,

Did you ever decide which way you are going to go with a camera or scope? I'll be honest, with how much today's technology has taken off with mega pixels, you can get a really nice point and shoot camera pretty cheap that will excel in all areas of photography. Every time the market bumps up a level, the previous level drops. We are at what, 14mp now or something ridiculous? Even a 5mp camera will take stellar shots as long as you have sufficient light and a tripod. My advice, go to dpreview.com, and search by best reviews. When looking at the list, look for models with review dates that are a year or two old. You will probably find something for half price by now on the used market that will have more capability that you can even use.

As a note, this is typically what I do with all of my electronic purchases from hifi to cameras. An example is when all of the home stereo 6.1ch and 7.1ch stuff came onto the market. I waited about a year, and then looked for top of the line 5.1ch stuff. I was able to buy a 4 year old $1800 receiver for $300 on ebay. Don't want to get off topic and talk about my other passion, but it's a perfect example.

I do nothing but use my point and shoot, and have not even messed with the cameras settings to see how good I can get photos. One of these days I want to send it to Superdave to see what kind of results he can get. Regardless, here are some pictures with no settings touched (full auto), and no post processing. Certainly not the best pics in the world, but easily gradeable. Oh, it's an Olympus 5500 sport that I think is 5mp. pretty old by todays standards.

well I hooked it up, and it asked me if I wanted it to search for the drivers and it found them and loaded them, I am guessing all you would need is some software that would allow you to use it because I am guessing the software is what you guys are saying doesn't load in Vista instead of the drivers

I have 64 bit Vista and a disc to load but it ( QX3 ) will not work in VISTA or LINIX for me.
