The area between the "R" and "T" in Liberty looks kinda suspicious to me. I think it has had some metal work done around that area.

Details for repair work.

Hint: it straight grades. I don't think PCGS got the right number, but there's no tooling or cleaning. The smooth R is a pretty common die issue on these coins. I know I've seen another with the same flattening and missing serifs.

Then I'm at G06, just shy of VG.
Rest in Peace

With almost no remaining detail on Miss Liberty and the weak reverse rims this sure looks like a Good coin, G-06 at best. If PCGS called it VG-08 or higher I can see why you would be skeptical.

I'd thought the grade over-generous, but maybe it isn't ...

I had it at a solid VG-8. Full rims, and partial EPU. A few feathers showing in the wings. Photograde by Ruddy puts it at a solid VG.

It may sound off, but the picture more accurately represents their own VG08 on their Photograde. I'm becoming less and less agreeable to their grading over the last couple of years.

I think PCGS got this one right. Clean coin, but lots and lots and lots of wear.
