Looks like some minor obv clashing. Not familiar with '87S VAMs. I think the photos do this one an injustice. I'm guessing 62/63 and PL.

AU55 or MS62. there are too many markers that the coin was circulated so I'm in at AU55

Ok soooo. I am excited to get this one and see what I am missing in the photo's.
It is AU-58 Star with a Green Bean CAC sticker.
Now I can see it at AU-58 and I think it looks decent in the photos but I am curious to see it in hand to see why the star designation and the Green Bean.
There must be something that does not show in the seller pics or NGC'S pics ?
What are we missing?
I will try and post my own pics and thoughts once I have it in hand hopefully by next weekend.

From the photos I cannot fathom why the star was given but I'm sure we will find out when you get it in hand and we can see better photos at different angles.

How much did you pay for this coin?

It has good eye appeal, looks pl but no designation

Curious what in hand pics will reveal. Surprised it got the and green bean based on the sellers pics. Maybe semi PL?

Yeah I was wondering maybe if it's borderline prooflike . Maybe that would give it a star? I paid quite a bit 199.50 shipped but mostly the star and green bean intrigued me but feel like I paid low ms money.

Sometimes AU58 coins command more than low MS coins, they sure can be better looking too

i'd rather have a nice AU58 than crappy looking MS63

i cant see how this coin got a star and a bean. I dont think the eye appeal is there but then again maybe thats why I dont work for a TPG

I don't see the AU-58* either. The sellers' photos must be really bad.

Coin arrived today. Looks much nicer than the photos. Obverse looks close to prooflike and has few major marks. Maybe the combo is what gave it the star. Plus it has a subtle apricot edge tone that is hard to see in pics.

The green stuff between the rim and the word "AMERICA" on the reverse would bother me.

I've just got a feeling the coin is slowly degrading in the holder due to some sort of contamination and/or environmental issues.

I'd strongly consider a return if that's still possible.

If you decide to keep it, take good pictures and monitor the coin for further problems. It may eventually need to be extracted from that slab and conserved.

@Westernsky the second set of photos I posted on the original post are the NGC pics . You can see that it is on the coin when they slabbed it so it would of been on the coin when it got CAC'd as well. That said looking at it , it is a more blue grey and not green but it also does not look like toning. I'll look at it under magnification in a bit and see if it looks like growth. If it is a issue I am suprised it wouldnt of gotten details and especially the green bean.
