Quote: The mint has to pay for all those circulating cents and nickels. Yep! I said that somewhere just the other day..

Nice sets @Dearborn and @hfjacinto (and Jbuck/Erscolo as well mentioned they got one). yes I think the silver version would be a great one to get both for the designs in a mint state and something more collectible over time than the typical clad versions. Quote: I find the design of the Jovita Idar quarter quite fascinating. I agree, the best of the 5 designs. Interesting. When I first posted the designs, some didnt seem to like that one at that time. I mentioned later in the thread that I read the CCAC recommendation and sure seems they are completely on a different level with that design than the comments, saying it might be coin of the year. http://goccf.com/t/435645We are all unique...just like everybody else

@datadragon,
I read the post linked and the 25 cents and the jovita idar are the coins I like the most. I like the simplicity of the Jovita quarter. Personally the others have too many words. They could have made each simpler and accomplished the job.

@hfjacinto, Heres the 2024 by the way (a separate topic to discuss elsewhere) https://www.coinnews.net/2023/03/31...en-quarters/ Thanks for sharing your opinion, I just thought it interesting again that few in the comments at that time liked that one looking back. Quote: machine20:kind of expensive If you just like the designs as many casual collectors do and not caring much about values, the clad set is an excellent choice at $23 and can get one set per year if you want all of them without the high cost of the silver, but over time that may hold or increase in value more potentially. https://catalog.usmint.gov/american...et-23WP.html Some might just like to go to a place like ebay and buy one each of the P,D,and S coins uncirculated without needing to buy entire rolls or bags. You may not find the perfect coins doing it that way but most casual collectors dont care to only have the perfect ones. And of course some can be found in normal change from circulation costing nothing extra, perhaps start to buy say any fast/casual food in cash vs putting on cards and put away the change to look through. Nearly everyone seemed to be collecting circulated state and America the Beautiful Quarters that way with values not even a thought..

Quote:Nearly everyone seemed to be collecting circulated state and America the Beautiful Quarters that way with values not even a thought.. In the past few years, I have been buying 2 uncirculated sets. I keep one PD set in OGP for my OGP collection, and the other PD I open up and distribute all the coins into my Dansco albums. So for the quarters, I only need to buy the S uncirculated quarters - this way I can afford to be particular and get only prime looking coins. The only other PD coins I need to buy from sellers are the Innovation dollars. if the seller sends me terrible looking coins, I send them back. ( always specify that I want the coins taken from rolls and not bags - better chance of not getting banged up coins.

The Jovita Idar quarters look more appealing in hand than in the rendering, as is usually the case and why I always reserve final judgments until I have coins in hand. However, I do recall saying it appealed to my rebellious spirit, even though I preferred a couple of the other proposed designs.

The only one I would want a proof of is the Sally Ride. That would fit in my little collection of space topicals, along with the Canadian $5 note.

However, I do recall saying it appealed to my rebellious spirit, even though I preferred a couple of the other proposed designs. Yes you were only one of a few that thought they liked the initial rendering, however the CCAC as I mentioned https://www.coincommunity.com/forum...IC_ID=435645 thought it to be a winner. "this design had the potential to receive the honor of coin of the year due to the uniqueness of the design, especially for a circulating coin." Yes waiting until something is in hand like the circulation version would be best to give a final opinion. The silver and the proofs both can enhance designs quite a bit so those are always good options for those who enjoy the design moreso than value although silver might hold value regardless of what the future holds. Thats why I was more into the proofs of the innovation dollars. The uncirculated conditions were all over the place and would require a lot of effort to put together a top set (vs a normal set). These days collectors have a much easier time finding things than in the past. You can easily go to a place like ebay and find single proofs out of a set. I bought the 2021 quarter proofs alone without the rest of the set for example.

I agree with all of this.
