I doubt each envelope gets a personalized bar code for each individual.

Each one does have a unique number assigned to it.

Some of the companies will video record the entire receiving process, starting before opening the package. They know who the packages are coming from.

I certainly wouldn't be sending any of my valuables to these folks...the payout is too low.

I am going to sell some scrap gold and silver this weekend at a local Jewlery Store. They are advertising that they will pay 80% of current gold prices. They will also pay you for the stones if you are selling old Jewlery. I have about 5 ounces of junk gold to sell and about 2 ounces of junk silver to sell.

A guy I work with went to this place and sold a rope chain and a ladies diamond ring and they gave him $350.00 for it.

Will see how I make out when I sell mine.

Fear tactics make people do just about anything. These pop-up companies win, not you.

Hey Clearwater Coins, let us know how you make out. I have two class rings that are heavy. I'd love to sell them but I couldn't remove the stones and I didn't want to sell them with the stones as I heard they charge you for removing them and then oftentimes they break and they throw them out.

YES, those cash 4 gold commercials are being played heavily here in the South, too. I think this company is making a fortune, probably giving people 10-15% of what their gold is really worth. But they are marketing genuises.

For some reason most miss the part that they say Gold, Silver and/or Platinum. I too wonder how many people have sent in Silver and Platinum? Wonder if they get low balled on those too.
The thing that most people just don't stop to realize is how much it cost for each commercial. If they weren't making a fortune on this thing, they sure wouldn't still be advertising.
Anyone made they didn't think of this? I mean doing what they are doing.

These folks are making a killing on scrap gold. Look at all the classic cars on Craigslist. My buddy and I were talking about this today. He has been looking for a classic car for a few years now. He told me people are dropping their prices in some cases $10,000-$15,000. Now is the time to buy I told him.

Well I sold my gold today and I think I did very well for scraps.
For the Gold I received $2,400.00
For the silver they paid me $17.00
I also had 1 champagne diamond 1/4 Karat they gave me $400.00 for.

So I made $2817.00 today on junk jewelry.

Yeah... I called them today, too about this "coin" with "Indian dude" with date "1911" and "Five dollars"

They said they don't really buy coins, but they will still offer me $140 for it...

According to "the website" the melt of a half eagle is around $230.

I knew the economy went bad when I no longer got people trying to buy my 'finmobile' in the parking lot every time I drove it!

Good amount for scarp gold/silver and a champagne diamond. However, we don't know how much it was in weight etc... but sounds like you were happy. I wonder what they'd of given you at

So I defintely did not get retail or even close.

If you sell your Cadillac to a scrap steel dealer, you won't get even close to retail, either.

Your entire experiment showed no scientific basis. If you had taken the gold to a pawn shop and gotten an offer, then sent it to them and gotten a lower offer, that would prove something. Better would be to know exactly the value of the gold you sent, and see how much you got paid. For all you know, you didn't even send them all gold.

BTW, the PO will refund them the postage on the brick, but it will be some inconvenience.

I read a article on one of the business websites where they sent some items to CashForGold and got really ripped off. If I can find a link to the story I will post it.
