Not a proof, - lack of a square edge.
However, I can understand why it otherwise appears as a proof, without an obvious radial mint luster.

I will be sending in this coin one way or another. Currently tracking down a dealer that will send it in for me, because membership fees are a killer. Best case scenario, a dealer will send it in to PCGS for me and will have a result in a few months. Worst case, I send it in to ANACS to just get it in a holder.

Will post results here when I get them. Final guesses welcome!

The rim doesn't look like a proof. But it's great looking MS.

It looks like a business strike to me. Lovely coin, by the way.

Is that a technical term? I like it!

I'm sticking my neck out and saying it's a Proof. WOW, she was kept all nice and neat for a LOT of years. I'm going with a PF-63. I like gutsy moves! IHC's can be tricky sometimes.

I wonder if ebay buyers think it's a counterfeit. That certainly would make it "iffy" for bidders.

Yes it is!

It falls in with "bidiot". That's a term I started using about 15 or 20 years ago to signify lunatic bidders on ebay that were clueless as to what they were doing. They are still around.

As far as the OP's original coin being a proof it is time for me to offer up my first "crow pie" lunch for this year. So, without further ado here goes —-

If the OP decides to send this coin off to NGC or ANACS for grading and certification, and it is returned as a slabbed "proof", I will eat my fair share of a well-cooked crow pie. I have offered this up several times here on CCF in the past and not once have I had to cook one up! I don't expect to this time either!

Now patiently waiting for grading results! I'll keep checking in!

To clarify, I am not trying to get this in a proof holder, as I agree with the consensus that this is a business strike. I just want it in a straight grade holder.

Nevertheless I'll keep posting the results...

Unpopular opinion. To heck with PCGS. Overpriced over rated. ANACS will do just fine. The coin is what it is. I am on the business 64RB team. And I wouldnt give a rats hind parts what PCGS said, thats how I would pay. CoinWorld values an MS64 RB at 325.00 The only purpose of the slab is to ensure authenticity. So I dont care whos name is on it.

Yes, I realize there are plenty of fools willing to part with more money because the Gods at PCG gave it their blessing. However, as you mention, you need to finda dealer to send it for you for it to be anywhere close to affordable. And its still gonna cost way too much. Then, if the dealer isn't one of the boys, it will take forever and I would bet it would be given a grade lower than deserved.

Just my opinion, and not a popular one as I said. That aside...

DUDE!!!! Killer pick up man!

Correct, the last truview is of the coin in question.

I may just sell it as-is. The coin speaks for itself in the photos. Looks just as good in hand.
