If inventory remains after a week's worth of sales to Masters Club members, I would think they will go into General Release on Tuesday, June 21st.

The high mintage really hurts the value of this coin as a collectible.

With such a high mintage of 6500 coins, there is a 100% certainty that the coin will reach the general public.

I doubt the RCM is really concerned with the value of this coin as a collectible. Their objective is to maximize revenue with the largest amount of coins they can sell. The first coin sold out rapidly at 3500 units, then the 2nd coin sold out at 3500.units. So if the coin is so popular why not jack it up to 6500.

Just look at the 2022 Rhodium Mercury Dinosaur coin that was jacked up to 10,000 units from previous year's issue of 7500 units. The result is the 2nd yr dinosaur is selling at a discount of 20-25% on the secondary market because the coin is still available at issue price months after release date at the RCM.

Is the Sea Otter coin actually part of the July release and not a Mid June release?

The July advance notice for Masters Club would start next week and then the general release the following week.

The low COA made available throughout the year to Platinum and above Master Club members would be the week before the advance notice, so this seems to all line up as the Black and Gold Sea Otter being part of the July release.

But the MC notice for the sea otter coin has already been released.

Only the low COA for the Otter, which are the first 1000, has been released.

Here's my timeline going backwards

July general release - June 28
July advance notice for MC - June 21, a week before general release
Low COA notice for MC - June 14, a week before MC advance notice

@applesauced

with regards to the Sea Otter's release dates, you are probably correct. the "1000" released low certificate numbers are for MC members; whereas, the actual release for the other 5,500 mintage will be next week for MC members and then to the general public. I believe the sea otter will be in the july catalogue from RCM.

Unless the Mint's release schedule has changed, the July General Release will take place on July 5th, the first Tuesday of the month.

Maybe a week early for the July release to accommodate a early or mid July release of a Jubilee circulation coin.

June 21 is way too early for advance notice for July releases. Advance notice for next month releases is usually the last Tuesday of the month.

So I expect the following:

June 28 - Advance notice for MC members for July releases.
July 5 - General release to the public.

@smuglr: The Maple Leaf certainly "pops" on the coin! Nice relief!

Congrats on the latest addition to your collection. Are you a dedicated Maple Leaf coin collector?

@commems Thanks, it is much nicer in hand than my photo. I wouldn't say dedicated so much, I probably don't know as much about them as I should. I enjoy collecting them and suffer from FOMO so I like to try to keep up with the special issues.

@smuglr: No one likes to miss out on something they enjoy collecting - I hope you continue to enjoy your maple leaf coins for a long time to come!
