I saw it on the news:

"In the UK, the first coins with the image of Charles III were presented

The Royal Mint of Great Britain showed coins in denominations of £5 and 50 pence with the image of King Charles III. The design was developed by the British sculptor Martin Jennings.

Charles III is depicted without a crown, and his profile is turned to the left — in accordance with numismatic tradition, each new monarch replacing his predecessor looks in the other direction (the profile of Elizabeth II on the coins is turned to the right). On the edges of the coin is written in Latin: "King Charles III, by the grace of God, defender of the faith."

The British Mint will also issue a special collection of coins with a portrait of Elizabeth II and the years of her life (1926-2022). The commemorative series should go into circulation on October 3"

I think perhaps in early 2023 we will see new coins with a new king.

The RAM mint set / proof set for 2023 has the Queens effigy.
Theme is 100 years of Vegemite and a coloured $1 Vegemite coin.

You can be certain they will issue a second mint set / proof set with KCIII effigy in 2023. It's an opportunity they won't miss.

There has just been a news report on British television about the Charles III 50p with the four shields reverse (like the 1953 and 1960 crowns). The coins were shown pouring off the production line at The Royal Mint in Llantrisant and a Mint spokeswoman said that they should enter circulation in December, 10 million are being struck.

I think that there is the possibility that The Royal Mint and Commonwealth Mints around the World that
collector coins will be produced in 1922 bearing a Charles 111 effigy.

Not so sure about coins issued into general circulation.
So long as there are unused Eliz 11 dies, they will continue to be used long after her death, until those dies are worn out.
Thus,
I would not expect to see circulation coins with a 2022 date bearing a Charles 111 effigy.

Yeah, I accidentally saw that news report on tv too when switching channels.
Yet, I missed the part about 10 million being struck. In total, or just for now?
