I'm at XF40 on this one, assuming the obverse scratch is in the holder.
Your pics or seller pics @Jerry Picker?

XF 40 because of the strong horn. The coin does does not have much in eye appeal. If I am a buyer, I would wait for one with better eye appeal.

Well nuts I second guessed myself out of the correct grade. I think the coin might be higher due to the really strong strike and think if it were mine I'd be selling it as I'm not a fan of the overall appearance, however I do think the holder is costing a lot of money in a sale, so it would be sold raw and cracked out with no mention of it's previous grade. There is a fair bit of difference in pricing from VF30, 35 & EF40... Granted that is a PCGS price guide and it's for slabbed PCGS coins only and usually a tad optimistic in value. In the current holder it's possibly worth $325 to $375 and raw maybe double that or even more.

I was on the VF35/XF40 fence, looks like I was "wrong" either way. I'm not so convinced that obverse scratch/scrape is on the holder. Looks like the scrape also carries into the neck. If that's the case I would net down a grade. If the scratch is on the coin then I wouldn't disagree with VF30. If it's on the holder then I'd say that's a bit conservative.

Quote: I decided to crack it out and put it in my album. its always a tough call to break a coin out but this one was so undergraded and the price raw exceeds the slab by quite a bit I would have done the same think.
