Almost a full horn, but seems like not quite.

can you reshoot this one like you did with the 19S. the yellow like toning is not real good for assessing coins.

Mismatched dies, VLDS obverse, MDS reverse. Good strike, which is typical for this date, 17-D usually has a pretty solid strike. Die state has made the obverse details mushy.
Nowadays I think this one would squeeze by at XF40. Since it looks to be in an older holder, I could see NGC saying VF35.

Guess I'd better go back to grading school.

Based on the much better 2nd set of pics I can see why NGC AU'd it. The yellow tint in the 1st set threw me off, too.
Crappy, unrealistic pictures yield crappy grading results.

Grading from pictures is never going to be real accurate.

I have au53 coins that look better then this one. But if your trying to say I do something to the photos all I can say is I try to get as close to the real thing as possible.. I use a white Milwaukee light or white LED lights so I don't know where you guys keep saying I'm making them look yellow they are all slightly gold toned.

Grading buffs from pics is always a challenge. In hindsight, I do see a bit of residual luster there, primarily in the fields. Later die state examples are exceptionally tough to judge, like this one. That said, AU55 seems awfully, (very) generous, but maybe in hand it's more telling.
