Wow! That one's a real eye catcher! It seems like a collector would be hard pressed to find one in better condition. Do you happen to know the population report numbers?

Congratulations on a very nice pickup of a Doubled Die Reverse LWC!

That's a very nice DDR on a solid proof coin. I haven't figured out why certain dealers are slabbing thousands of wheat proofs with NGC, as how many people really need one, but it has brought a lot of coins to light for cherrypicking. According to their census they have now slabbed 8,232 PFRD 1955 coins, with the vast majority of them PF67 or higher.

Very nice find. As to lighting, maybe get a loupe that has a light on it

Thanks everyone for the nice comments, suggestions, and added info.

I didn't have any info on the pop reports so the info from TB is appreciated.

Speaking of whom, he may have answered his own question about why NGC is slabbing so many.
"According to their census they have now slabbed 8,232 PFRD 1955 coins, with the vast majority of them PF67 or higher"
All I can think of is NGC must be much less expensive to slab than PCGS or they are promoting their service, trying to keep market share.
Especially important since PCGS seems to be the slab most collectors prefer judging by "sold" comparisons.

Lighting continues to be problematic but I think my phone camera should get most of the credit and blame for my images.
The internal software helps with proof coins but the slab can be an issue with correctly focusing.

The problem with a light on a loupe seems to be changing the angle of reflection to be able to pick up doubling on different types of coins.
I have been looking for battery operated gooseneck headlamps but realize that with my technique the light has to come from
above because of my stubby fingers blocking light.

I did bring a light that fits around my neck with adjustable lights, similar to the kind used for nighttime reading, but, being below my face, the light was blocked by my hands.

Gooseneck is definitely what I'm looking for to help at shows.
Time to go on Shark Tank!!

Thanks for the pop report on these, TB! I'm actually kind of shocked that there are that many.

I have to start going to coin shows again. I used to hit as many as I could back in Texas, but I haven't been to a single one here in New Jersey. Anyone else here in NJ know of upcoming shows? I'm in the central part of NJ, near the Barnegat Bay coast.

With that separation it should have an FS attribution number. Great addition.
