Quote: Recall the scene in the 1951 movie The Day The Earth Stood Still, when Klaatu has a pocket full of diamonds he uses as money--intends to pay for movie tickets with some diamonds? Not exactly coins, but...

In Season 1, Episode 6 "Mind War" in the TV series "Babylon 5" a telepath tests new telekinesis abilities by moving a penny across a table. Being rather low-budget, I suspect they used a painted 1943 penny so that they could move it with a magnet under a cloth to represent the table top. The first shot clearly shows a wheat revers while the next shot inexplicably shows it face-up. You can see the silver-colored edges so that lends more credence to my theory about a 1943 penny being used.

I recently finished watching Better Call Saul. Loved it! In several episodes, there are numerous mentions to various coins that Jimmy has had. I seem to recall him mentioning he had a collection with an Indian Head cent. One particular episode in general, a scam is ran on a man for an ordinary Kennedy half dollar. I can't find any pics really, but yeah. This was pretty cool. I also recently finished Breaking Bad.

Good shows! I am currently re-watching Fringe. In the alternate (RED) universe, there is the silver dollar with Nixon's head on it.

Awesome! I believe I watched the very first episode of that or two years ago when it first came out.

It originally aired 2008-2013 on Fox. My son was five months old, so I remember watching it later at night on the DVR after he was asleep. He is almost 18 now, so there is so much on this show that I have forgotten! I like that I am able to still be surprised on the re-watch!

I will reverse this a little- I was watching Sanditon (UK, ealry 19th century, right after Napoleonic wears, ~1816/7?) with my wife and daughters. Earlier that day I was looking through some of my coins. On Sanditon they mentioned a Schilling, so I ran to my collection and pulled a Schilling I was examining earlier (1826, Georgius IV, silver coin) and showed it to my family. It was a bit later than the movie, but pretty close and helped bridge the gap between history and reality. It is a really nice coin to boot.
