Just got back from the coin show myself. Was able to purchase a decent amount of world coins. Nothin fancy like the coins barryg bought, but still very pleased.

However, I thought the entrance fee of $10 to be quite steep for attending a local (for all intents and purposes) coin show. Not to mention gas and lunch.

The 2001 American Buffs are one of my favorite Commems. Congrats

@cptbilly:

I wasn't collecting coins when those came out, so I totally missed them. I saw them at the show and it was a true impulse buy due to still having a little cash left over at the end of the day.

@NumisEd: Glad you had fun! One nice thing about this show is that that they do have a wide variety of dealers catering to different interests. My 18-year-old son picked up a really nice ancient Roman coin that he plans to bring with him to college as a conversation piece.

Perhaps we unknowingly met.
I was waiting behind a father and his son who were debating the purchase of a roman coin from Berman. The son had red (orange) hair.
The father then graciously offered me his chair for a moment.

Sadly, that wasn't us. My son is half Chinese and definitely does not have red hair. I was wearing a greenish Hawaiian style shirt with a white panama hat. Oh -- and we were there yesterday, not today...

Great purchases! You sure chose quality, even though the flowing half is lower grade. It depicts quality surfaces for the grade. Enjoy!

@jacrispies: My thoughts exactly! I hadn't planned to buy one since I figured any I could afford wouldn't have much eye appeal or details visible, but this one ended up being perfect for me.

Some great acquisitions, barryg! That's an attractive flowing hair half.
