Just to be clear, a coin cannot really be a pre Cud unless there is a known Cud that matches the so called pre Cud. This coin, the die crack does not go rim to rim so not a pre Cud per say. John1

I don't know if it is on COC, but it is common sense. John1

As stated earlier, it is possible that the damaged die was noticed and replaced.

@John1, from one point of view make sense but in fact is not. Here the definition of an pre-cud: Quote:A "Pre Cud" is a precursor to most collectible of all die break errors called a Cud. The Pre Cud starts out as a Rim to Rim Die Crack. When the die break starts to show lateral spread and horizontal offset it now becomes a Retained Cud. If the break separates from the die the result is a fully-fledged Cud. Then what on those modern presses will be never pre-cud? Think that if in this case the Anvil was come to point to be change they at Mint change also the Hammer. Today the Dies go by pairs and if one is out of parameters, then the other is change automatically. Interesting point of view.
