Retained struck-through sounds right, John.

My vote is Die Crack, since it's connected to the rim.
Errers and Varietys.

If a die crack, that would be nice. But my first thought was struck through a piece of scrap or something. Cracks don't usually follow a straight line. Two questions, does it wrap around the edge? Also curious if it responds to a magnet? Thanks, Doug.

I'm on board with die crack. Nice.

Thanks all! There's no response with the magnet and the line tapers into the rim but does not wrap. Including a close-up image.

Definitely not a retained strike through. Just a nice die crack.

Seems somewhat thick and straight for a die crack, especially over the devices. Struck-through seems to be a better explanation.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

You guys are way over-thinking this. It's just a thick die crack. A strike through wouldn't be so raised, and it has the classic lumpy shape of a die break.

For the life of me I can't remember. Did I think about walking and then walked or did I learn to walk without thinking? Thanks, Doug.
