It looks real to me. Most of the fakes I've seen have either mushy details from being struck with soft, cast dies and lack mint luster. This is sharply struck and seems to have good luster. But I'm not an expert on forgery identification, just my Two Cents. Whatever you do, avoid handling it as much as possible, and only with clean hands by the edge of the coin if you must. Never touch the fields. Also, never clean coins except by soaking in either distilled water or 100% pure acetone from the hardware store (not nail polish remover). Not sure if you know this already, but bears reiterating for every new member with a potentially very valuable coin. Edited by SamCoin

 Sam, kurdlezuit got it. I'm just trying to get everybody to look it up. Just telling them where to look if they don't know. I think that's the fun of finding something and confirming it. |

Looks counterfeit to me...Im not seeing the shine I expect coming off of it and the surface isn't smooth enough

Not counterfeit at all. Worthing, When you send it in, pay the extra to have them conserve it. I think it will help this coin.
