With the exception of the SVDB, the condition of the other coins would not generally warrant professional grading.

@nta, first welcome to CCF. Second, the only thing to the above comments that I would add is to flatten the staples on the 2x2s. Otherwise, they can rub against adjoining coins and damage them.

The 09-s need to be put in a new 2x2 at the very least.

these are enjoyable, not necessarily gradable. Well that 09-S VDB could get graded.

wow, that's a sweet 09-S VDB... if they were mine I would consider having it authenticated & graded, but just that one, everything else is okay as-is, imho. I guess my Two Cents is kind of similar to everyone else's Two Cents. would love to see more pictures whenever you can manage to nab them.

Make sure you flatten out the staples on those 2x2's You don't want them to scratch other coins if you stack them.

To CCF! Only coin worth grading by a TPG is the 1909 S VDB. The others should be kept raw.

Looks like a nice SVDB! I would get that slabbed for sure, authentication is more critical than the grade due to a large number of fakes in the marketplace. With the second set of pictures, it looks to be at least AU (Almost Uncirculated), well over a $1000 coin. CONGRATS!

Do you have any local coin shops nearby? They might be able to submit it for you cheaper than you can do yourself. It'd also be nice to have their opinion - any dealer worth his salt can attribute an SVDB on the spot.

If this were my collection, I would leave it just the way it is. If nothing else, it will serve as a nice memory of your grandpa.

Lovely inheritance. IMO if you are not in a hurry to sell anything I would keep it all just as it is for now. Eventually that 09-S VDB needs to be in a TPG holder just to validate authenticity for the next owner.

Just enjoy them and keep them safe. You'll always remember where they came from
