Quote: Sorry, didn't mean to steal your thread. Just wanted to give you some added context (re: issues, why they were fun to collect & the lower grades). Great set of notes BTW. No worries! I enjoy you sharing your knowledge through comments and posts! Quote: Nice examples! Thanks!

Personally, I feel that BCS is a stickler for a concept of UNC that doesn't exist. He habitually knocks down UNC notes for very minor issues that would be overlooked by other TPG'ers IMO. I own several 60, 62 & 63's that were plucked from bricks or bundles. They may have been very slightly mishandled but I think the low # are too common. Other than the registry being a bit off (for the 63's) I have never been able to pinpoint what he didn't like on the note in question. I have never seen so many 60's & 62's placed on so many of my UNC notes: a number very seldom on a PMG holder. I have started to rethink the BCS grades so that a 60 would be 62, a 63 would be 65 & a 64 would be a 66 in PMG holders. I may be off on this estimate but I know a few collectors who would agree with me. Unfortunately, I also suspect this is the reason we're seeing so many BoC notes now being certified by Legacy. When I started back into the hobby the Birds Series were on their way out & the Journey was just being released around 2001/2002. The problem with the Birds series (for me anyway) was the lack of change overs & short prefixes. The only real excitement (for some) was that they had insert replacements but I really wasn't into those. I always got fired up when a new series was released so I followed the Journey series closely & posted some of the notes I picked up in this thread. Many were bought since their release was never straight forward & regional across Canada (meaning you may never see prefix in ON but may see it in Quebec or Alberta). http://goccf.com/t/417980

I believe a reason for recent large amount of Legacy graded notes are they attend major Canadian shows and TCNC uses them as a default grader, it is a major hassle and cost to use PCGS or PMG

I agree, BCS grades tend to be a step or two lower than PMG and PCGS. I find that BCS is more of a grader for collectors (a conservative grade) and the others tend to be for sellers at a grade or two higher. I have sent in a total of 3 notes to BCS that I had cut out of a holder, just to see what BCS would give them. Two of them received drastically lower grades (what I suspected) and one graded 63 by PMG came back a 64 by BCS (I believed this note to be higher than what PMG graded). I didn't have much cost involved in these so it was an interesting experiment. I have had BCS grade some of my collection and others I've purchased. I like how consistent they are and for convenience, as I live nearby. As the saying goes: buy the note, not the holder. Quote: it is a major hassle and cost to use PCGS or PMG I have heard this as well. You would think they would want to make things easier to attract more customers.

Amazing set of 1935 Q60! I really like your English $5 & $10. People have no idea how hard these can be to find with the Q. I also like the eye appeal on your French $10 & $20 (both very clean & attractive to look at).
I would love to own a French $2, $10 & $20. I still don't own a graded example of the English $1.00 (which booked at $500 when I started hunting for one), nor the English $5 which was equally affordable when I started looking but now seem out of this world expensive.
Care to share the back of one of each? (what I love about the 1935 series is the allegorical designs on the reverse).

Quote: For my final surprise post, I'd like to share with all of you my 1935 set. This set is obviously incomplete and will never be complete but I feel grateful to be able to put together and take care of what I have. A brilliant effort!
