The ability to link a PayPal account is no longer available; however, any previously linked account remains active.

I talked to an ebay Rep who reiterated the above. I explained I'm not talking about a new account. My PayPal was always there and now gone.

She supposedly opened a ticket. I just looked and still no PayPal account in ebay.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?

No but not sure. I just checked my account and paypal was available as a payment option. I tried a checkout with a non coin and a coin item so its not a universal issue happening to everyone, and not specific to coin purchase. Hopefully your ticket will resolve the question of missing paypal since you mentioned you already had a existing paypal account.

However, ebay is switching from PayPal to Adyen and it says PayPal will remain as a payment option on ebay until July 2023, allowing plenty of time for sellers to transition to the new system. ebay says that "PayPal will remain an important partner".It seems that PayPal will continue to have a place on ebay, it will just be less prominent. https://www.salehoo.com/learn/ebay-...-with-paypal So I don't know if this means its going away for everyone shortly based on that and we all will just use the new Adyen system only for payments on ebay, or might remain as a secondary option to those who already had paypal linked in some cases is what needs to be found out and you just had an issue that will be resolved.

PayPal account still shows under my payments in ebay. If they take that away, I will have to start using virtual card numbers again. I do not use my real CC number online. I only use PayPal or G-Pay. If a vendor accepts neither I move on to the next one.

@Jbuck, Adyen's customers include tech industry giants Uber, Netflix, and Spotify and would be ebays internal processor, so it should be ok if they move us all, but yes its typically much safer to keep credit card info off individual sites in other cases in event of a breach.

This may be due to the immediate payment (auto pay) ebay implemented for best offer and auctions. It happened to me on a best offer. ebay is requesting a selected payment method" for Best Offer & Auctions.

I was able to select Pay Pal, but now every time I make an offer the "preferred payment" on file will take it out of Pay Pal, you have to delete preferred payment method and then put in how you want to pay the next time this screen pops up.

what I do now is delete the "preferred payment"on file after the transaction has cleared, then add my payment method on the next Offer. be careful they are now enrolling this on auction bidders, slowly but surely.

As a seller I was opted in and had no idea til I read it on the ebay forums. Most sellers have no idea they were enrolled in this. as a seller you have to go into buyer payment requirements and uncheck the two boxes marked ,

Require buyers to provide a payment method before they make an offer.
Require buyers to provide a payment method before they make a bid.

As a seller I unchecked these 2 boxes.

As a buyer I have to add and delete my preferred method of payment on file.

ebay enacted this due to complaints of non paying bidders and offers that were not paid immediately.

But, it has caused more problems, buyers who bid or make multiple offers cannot get combined shipping as each winning bid or offer from the same seller is paid at auction end or when seller accepts offer.

I suggest checking the ebay community forum to read more about the problems this is causing.

Not all sellers have been opted in yet (by ebay) on best offers and auctions, but it is coming.

what I had noticed on my selling side is that I was not getting a lot of snipe bids as auctions ended.. I guess buyers were hitting the back button when they saw the new "auto pay" requirement.

The worst part of this is you enter a bid and forget about it, then you get a email you won and the item is already paid for.

Used paypal to pay for ebay auction this morning.
I wish there was an alternative for coin buying and selling, something like mashops, but with an easier way for legitimate sellers to sell items, real customer service and w/o the incredibly high fees paypal charges.

This is how it started for me. On Monday I had no problem with PayPal on an auction. On Wednesday I made an offer that turned into an auto pay on a credit card and PayPal disappeared.

Are you saying if I delete the credit card on file PayPal with reappear?

Yes, if its related to the auto pay and not just a normal transaction. Also why don't you add a regular item to your cart and go to checkout to see if paypal is offered to you there as I and others have said there were no issues there. You just don't complete the purchase and delete the item from cart after checking.

I deleted the card, added an item to my cart, went to checkout and PayPal was offered. That worked. Thanks!

Yes that should work. in your account under buyer payments there are 3 different payment options.( at least on mine).

one for payouts (if you sell)
one for check out
***one for payment option*** which will say auction & offers.

I think the only problem moving forward is when ebay turns this on 100% for auctions. most sellers will not know this auto pay is enabled.

so bottom line is, if you go to make a bid on an auction (not best offer) that little pop up box will come up asking you to enter a"preferred payment" method, which will be just like the scenario of the "best offer" problem we talked about above.

The problem is, say you are bidding in multiple auctions and you win a bunch of them, they will all be paid immediately at auction end. no chance to choose what payment method you want. Some like to split it between PayPal and some on credit card, ect ect. What ever is on file is what ebay is going to use to auto pay those auctions you won.

If all sellers unchecked those 2 boxes, then the problem is gone....back to the old way, pay with the method you want at check out.

I think when you hit "BUY it Now" it still takes you to check out so you can choose how to pay.

***note*** If a seller has unchecked these 2 boxes for buyer requirements, you won't notice a change. But you will not know if the seller has this enabled UNTIL you make an offer or bid on an auction.

I think that ebay has recently removed the option to link PayPal accounts for making payments on the platform. Even though previously linked accounts should remain active, users are reporting the disappearance of their PayPal accounts from ebay, causing confusion and inconvenience.

So I suggest you to use PayPal to refrain from such glitches.

In 2015 when ebay and Paypal split I lost the option of paying with Paypal on ebay purchases. I have been paying for everything on ebay with my credit card for over 8 years.

I didn't think Paypal was a payment option on ebay (since 2015).

Up through my last purchase yesterday, I've been successful with PayPal on ebay for several years--many purchases monthly. One exception was about two years ago when PayPal had issues and a link to ebay was broken--returned a few hours later. Again, no issues with my activity.

I do not have a "preferred method of payment" on file with ebay. I am paying as I always have with my paypal balance at checkout or I can check off credit card or bank account ect. I am tired of adding a preferred payment and then going in and deleting it after that transaction has cleared.

So now I have a red icon on my selling page stating "no preferred payment on file".

For me I have always been able to pay with Pay Pal, nothing changed til ebay started this new "preferred payment" on file.

What I do is, if I bid on an item or send a best offer to a seller....if I get that pop up asking to choose a preferred payment to be linked before it lets my bid or offer go through, I hit the back button. Seller looses out.

The other thing I am wary of is if say someone hacks your account, they can spend freely since your "auto Pay" is enabled. ( this auto pay links your Pay Pal/Credit card/bank balance for future purchases.

I like having the checkout screen pop up when I choose to pay and I decide what form I am going to use for payment.

Until they decide it is mandatory, I am not choosing a "preferred payment" to be on file.
